So our original wedding plans involved a budget of $13,500 with about $3,000 for the honeymoon.  We realized a few weeks ago it just wasn't there and some money we thought was there had fallen through (we learned to make sure we can pay for everything ourselves and if money we told would be contributed is there, great, if it's not, we have it anyway).  We're almost done planning our new wedding (which will be done in less than half the time of the first) and we realized how much we've saved.  Total it'll probably be max $6,000 for the wedding and $1500 for the honeymoon.  I just wanted to share this because I'm very proud of us for being able to pull this off and I've also learned that we're all a lot less stressed now and it'll still be a lovely wedding with only those that are the closest to us.

Good for you! A wonderful wedding can be done on a budget. Ours cost around 5K and most seemed happy with it. We had a blast!

My niece had an expensive wedding two years ago and and they are STILL paying for it. This while providing for a new baby.

That is fabulous. I think this bodes so well for your life together. You worked as a team, set goals, and revised as necessary. Way to go!

Good for you guys.  Sometimes that's not easy to pull off.  You'll be really happy to have saved that money after the wedding, when you start to plan for your future together.
