Yepp. For the past two weeks my entire family has had some throat/cough thing going around and I finally caught it… why couldn’t it wait 2 more days?!??! :'( My throat is so freaking swollen and sore I don’t know how I will talk tomorrow at the wedding. It’s REALLY bad.
I can’t help but feel so pissed off at my sister for it and I feel bad about that. She doesn’t know or anything but deep down I am mad at her. She is CONSTANTLY sick. No joke. She bites her fingernails, touches her face, and doesn’t practice that good of hand washing and I swear to you she is sick 11 months out of the year. She was the first one of us to get sick, like always, and now it has spread through the entire family, like always. I am a germaphobic and am always using hand sanitizer, washing my hands, etc. and this is my worst fear come true.
Ugh I’m so upset I’m fighting back tears right now. Also I am moving today, the day before the wedding, as if this isn’t enough stress the day before. :'(

*hug* It will be okay… I’m so sorry you’re not feeling well!
Gargle with warm, salty water as often as you can. Really get it in the back of your throat and just keep gargling. It will truly save your voice. Lots of tea and honey, cough drops, and don’t talk too much today. Congratulations, you’re going to have a GREAT WEEKEND!!!!!!! *one more hug*

@kkish3: Really feel for you, I suffer from a terrible sore throat/bad laryngitis about 3 times a year and was really worried about it for the wedding. My only advice is try to rest your voice as much as possible today, and gargling dispersable aspirin helps me. I hope it gets better

That really stinks, but as impossible as this sounds, try not to stress. Stressing will only make it worse, and really, what can you do besides take care of yourself today? Have you tried Zicam? I found that out of all the “remedies” it actually worked the best for me, especially if you take it as soon as possible after symptoms, and take it habitually as per the dosage instructions.
I hope you feel better and congrats on getting hitched!!!! I’m sure the weekend will be amazing regardless.

Oh I feel for you!! I am sick right now too. Started with a sore throat and now it is more like a full on cold. I keep losing my voice on and off. I keep drinking lots of hot tea and that seems to help. Sometimes I put some honey in it too. Then I’ve been using a saline nasal rinse. It’s awful and kind of disgusting but it does the trick usually to help me feel better faster. I also take Ibuprofen (Advil) and Pseudoephedrine (Sudafed). Doing that and getting plenty of rest at night I’ve made it through each work day without everyone even knowing I’m sick.
I’m sure it’s hard to rest right now but please try and rest as much as possible! Drink tons of fluids. I really hope you feel better for the big day. Hugs and best wishes!

I’m so sorry. I know it’s not how you imagined it. I was very ill the night before my wedding. (Destination wedding – bad food, you get the picture). The morning of the wedding I couldn’t eat anything and had to keep putting cold cloths on my head during my salon appt to keep from passing out. But when the wedding time came its like I just pushed all those feelings away. No one had any idea I was sick until I told them later. I had the best day of my life. So just know, it will work out. Once the wedding starts and emotions are running high, I’m sure you’ll feel great regardless. Have a wonderful wedding day.

@kkish3: Take some Zicam, and a Zinc, Vitamin C, and Echinacea vitamin. Eat a big meal and go to sleep. Works for me every time.

I hope you feel better 🙁 I can relate as I am also fighting a cold/ear infection etc. Luckily I am still 16 days out from my wedding and went tot he doctor yesterday and asked that they load me up with antibiotics. Remember – sniffly or not, your marrying the man of your dreams 🙂

It sucks, but you will be ok. As long as you go to bed early and take care of yourself I think all the excitement of tomorrow will help you forget about your sore throat and stuffy nose and whatever else. Try to get rest, drink water, take some zinc and orange juice, and suck on some throat drops. Get better, girly and congrats!

Yesss. Gargle salt water (1/4 tsp sea salt/non-iodized salt in hot water) several times a day. Drink LOTS of water and hot tea with honey.
And actually, the worst thing you can do is use too much hand sanitizer and wash your hands too much. You need small amounts of germs to build up immunity to them.

Ack! Sorry you got sick, that’s one of my biggest fears too.
I swear by Tom Yum Thai chicken soup. Four stars. Have a pitcher of water next to you while you eat it. It will really, really get your sinuses flowing. Acai juice is great, too.
Chloraseptic, too–that’s the numbing spray stuff you squirt down your throat.

@kkish3: So sorry you are sick! I know exactly what you are going through. I was diagnosed with Pneumonia the week of my wedding. it took me double the amount of time to get ready because I was coughing so bad! But like a previous person said, the second I started walking down the aisle it was like the cough magically disappeared and I didnt cough the rest of the night! Crazy how things work!

Gargle every hour with salt water- 1 tsp of salt in 8 oz of hot water.

@kkish3: Oh no! Like another poster said, take a Zinc tablet. I take zinc every time I feel something coming on and it has worked so far for me… also do the warm salt water gargle! I hope you feel better and have an amazing wedding day!

Thank you all so much for the advice and well wishes! We just finished moving all of our stuff in and it is ALL OVER THE PLACE lol… boxes galore. But I am going to try to just leave it alone, take a bath, prepare for the wedding, and go to bed early. We have some mini-grocery shopping to do for essential items and are buying a new matttress but other than that I am going to call it a day.
