I should preface this post by saying I’m not a picky person and I endeavor to be a very laid back kind of bride. I’ve pretty much planned my wedding in three weeks and everything except the dress has gone really smoothly. Last week, tired of my size 14 dress shopping experience, I went to David’s Bridal and on an impulse bought a dress because it was a good price and “made my waist look so small” (according to the consultant), even though I hadn’t noticed it online before and wasn’t excited about it on the hanger (it’s pretty, but I wanted something flowy). I walked out of the store and was immediately remorseful, but I was determined not to make the dress a big deal/issue and I figured I could learn to love it. After a few days and few dozen unsuccessful attempts to talk myself into it, I called DB and out of nowhere started crying like a crazy person and could barely get the words “can I exchange my dress” out…after I calmed myself and started speaking like a rational person again, the store manager kindly assured me that exchanging the dress was not a problem. So I went in tonight with a game plan devised after hours of online “research”, and I found my perfect dress. I’m so excited! I came home glowing. I’m still high. I ended up with DB Style MK3576 in a size 12, even though I am firmly a 14. I’m having a corset back put in and having them sew on a sash, they assure me the corset will let it go one size up.
Moral of the story: sometimes you can’t be afraid to ask for what you want.
This was the first dress… DB OP9264 Size 14, nothing wrong with it, it is a pretty dress, I just wanted something that was soft and flowy and this was rather stiff feeling.
And my dress:
DB Style MK3576 will have a champagne colored sash, flower and corset back added (this is way more me and way closer to what I had in mind for my winter winery wedding…my waist may not look as small in this dress, but between me and you, I wasn’t really banking on it looking any smaller on my wedding day than it does on every other day ):

your 2nd dress is the one that my mom got teary over – I used it as the body “style” of the dress I had made custom I HIGHLY recommend twirling in that dress ~ it’s what made me realize it was pretty spot on for what I was looking for but lacking the sleeves I desire/require! great choice & while I liked the 1st dress your final dress is perfection! Congrats!
As a note: it never hurts to ASK ~ sometimes the worst thing we can hear is NO & we build it up in our heads but it can never hurt!
