… and I can’t be the only one!
For the uninitiated, Daiya is a gluten-free, soy-free, vegan “cheese” alternative. I have an open bag of cheddar shreds that I’ve been devouring, mostly in the form of delicious, gooey nachoes.
FTR, I am gluten-free, dairy-free and soy-free but am not actually a vegan. My food restrictions are medical.

Glad to know that there are gluten and diary free cheese options out there that are good. I’m thinking I might have a problem with one of those two.

When I first switched to a vegan diet Daiya was my savior, lol. I don’t eat it anymore but I remember the discovery day!

Daiya is pretty good stuff! We eat a lot of Trader Joe’s almond “cheese” shreds around here, too, since FI needs to keep low on the soy. But I’ve come to prefer the vegan cheese on (gf) pizza, admittedly!

@chercee: I’m vegan (minus days where I can’t resist cheese on my pizza. Guess I’m not 100% vegan :-/ Haha!) but ive been so nervous to try this stuff!!! Any particular kind of daiya “cheese” that’s the best? I’ve heard it’s awesome or terrible lol

@chercee: I love daiya! We don’t buy it very often, but it’s aweeesome on pizza. Tastes super weird raw though haha. I’ve heard the cream cheese is amazing!

@Mick26: Personally I prefer the shreds over the bricks, though I think that’s because Daiya has a strong flavour – a little goes a long way. The cheddar and mozzarella shreds are delicious, especially when melted. It took me a while to like them raw (like sprinkled in a salad) but now I like that a lot too!
ETA: I would suggest to start out light and work your way up. When I first started getting it on my pizza (yay for Magic Oven in Toronto!) I would ask for “easy cheese” which is about 1/2 the amount or so. I found the flavour overwhelming at first. Now I don’t bother asking them for easy, since I’ve come to love it. Oh, and if you’re cooking with it at home, the shreds take longer to melt than “normal” shredded cheese.
@jessicadarling: I haven’t had the cream cheese yet, but I’ve heard the same thing. I don’t think it’s in Canada yet.

DH can’t have any dairy, so I buy him Daiya occasionally. He likes the mozzarella flavor better than the cheddar one. Yes, a little does go a long way. I dumped it all over a pizza once like I’d do with actual cheese and the end result was this gross, overpowering, funky taste.
He also likes the Veggie Slices “cheese”. I think it’s rice cheese. Jalepeno is actually very good. Luckily we can get all sorts of stuff like this at our supermarket.

My husband’s restaurant makes a vegan pizza with it and it is soooooo good. I actually have some in my fridge right now. Might have to eat a slice!

First time I have ever heard of it. Maybe I need to search it out.
