Ooooh, I would be furious as well. Your anger is certainly justified. I followed your last post and was so glad he found his way home! I hope he makes it home this time too! Good luck to you and Locky!

Why is your FI being so flippant? That’s not cool…. Maybe take one of his most prized posessions and hide it from him until the cat comes back. Tell him that the pain he is experiencing in missing his ipad or whatever you take from him is tantamount to how distraught you are over the cat. Ask him if he “gets it” then. Hopefully that trains him to understand how important the cat is to you. Good luck with the fuzz ball coming home. I’m sure he’ll turn up soon.

@StuporDuck:  +1

This is not acceptable. You’ve made it clear you do not want him outside and your FI is not respecting that wish. I agree that you should hide something of his. I’m so sorry he’s being so stupid.

First and foremost, I hope Locky comes back soon–I followed your last post, and I was so relieved that he found his way back!

Now.  I would not be starting to see red, I would be so furious I couldn’t see straight.  In my opinion, the only correct response would have been absolute mortification and contrition from your FI.  Him shrugging it off makes me so upset for you.  Not only is he showing complete disrespect for you and your feelings, but he’s really not showing any consideration for Locky either.  I think you can tell a lot about a man by the way he treats animals, and I just…I don’t know what I’d do in this situation…

@Quietserenity:  Yeah, I tend to feel this way too… especially angry with the lack of regard for my feelings.

I would be beyond furious and ready to kill. I think FI’s attitude is deplorable!

Forget hiding something of his, I’d be telling FI he’s not welcome in the house until that kitty is  home.  I’m so angry for you.  Our cat found his way into the ceiling once and we thought he snuck out of the house, I was absolutely sick with worry until we found him.  If my FI acted the way yours is right now we’d be having some serious issues.

@Pokemon:  Don’t “ask” him not to bring the puppy, TELL him. I’d also be tempted to tell him that he can come home when he brings the cat with him. It’s completely unacceptable that he’s so disrespectful of your feelings and careless about the cat’s safety. This is a LIVING CREATURE that you and he are responsible for. He doesn’t just get to screw around with making sure the cat can’t get out of the house. He isn’t acting like a mature adult at ALL. How would he react if you told him his actions and words about this were making you seriously reconsider your feelings for him? I would hope he’d be horrified and find himself an attitude adjustment super-quick.

Also, OP, I’m so sorry. I was so relieved when you found Locky before; I can’t believe you’re going through this again. It would be a deal-breaker for me. 🙁
