Hello, Bees! I have been relentlessly searching for the perfect engagment ring before my SO, James, pops the question around January. While I obviously have plenty of time (I am supposed to be focusing on taking the LSAT in December and getting all of my law school apps in, oops!), I want to be 10000000% positive that I am in love with my choice because I know that James does not want to propose without a ring (he is super traditional, whether he will admit it or not!).
I have decided that I defintely want a moissanite ring on the grounds that it meets what I call my three E’s — ethical, economical, and eco-friendly!
I was orginally head-over-heels with the rings from Rosado’s Box on Etsy. I showed James my top picks and, because he is not a fan of pave bands or halos, the choice of a solitaire enagegement ring seemed obvious! I am really excited to have at least narrowed it down to a very classic, simple style choice that we both love.
Personally, I am a huge fan of oval solitaires. I have tiny (but long) fingers at a size 4, so I think that the shape is very flattering. James prefers round brillants but he won’t be wearing it, now will he? 😉
After seeing another user’s photo of a Moissanite Co oval solitaire, my choice of an oval was greatly reinforced! It was perfect! She even had what appeared to be a similar hand size to my own (size 4.5) so I could really envision it on myself.
I checked out Moissanite Co’s site and I found that not only did they have a gorgeous oval setting available, it was also MUCH more affordable than the quote I recieved from Shirley at Rosado’s Box. My only confict is that we live close enough to Chicago that a trip to the brick-and-mortar Rosado’s Box is well within the realm of possibilites. Obviously, I would be much more comfortable with buying a ring that I can see/touch before hand, but the $455 price difference has me second guessing where I want to make our purchase (I’m not sure how much Shirley would be willing to negotiate on the price.)
What do you Bees think? Save $455 dollars and go with Moissanite Co or stick with the ring that I can try before I buy*?
*I would only be able to try on something similar, as the setting with a moissanite would be a custom order.
