Oh that sucks! Maybe you could put reminders on your computer for all your bills? I'm obsessed with Quicken for my finances but you could get the same thing for free at mint.com.
Dude I remembered but it just kept slipping my mind, it's on my fridge but behind my friggin' electric bill. I really should have just sent it out when I got it in but I had soo many things going on with the event from this past weekend that it completely slipped my mind. Oh well, I can guarantee you I won't make such an idiotic mistake twice.
awww that sucks. I always have to pay mine as soon as I get them or I totally forget about them. I'm surprsied you didn't get a notice or something about it being late tho
No late notice? That's so weird! Can you put your bills on automatic pay through online banking or your credit card?
I've done the same thing, shove bills here and there and totally forget about them. So frustrating but there's just so much paper that comes to the house constantly it's overwhelming sorting through it all the time.
I used to be really bad about that with the cable bill but I did direct deposit and now every month it automatically gets paid from my bank. Can you maybe look into something like that?
I did get a notice!! they would call at like 5 and it started the day before the event so I was completely busy and sort of heard it thought it was a telemarketing call and hung up the phone!! then when the number finally did call back it was after hours so i couldn't return the call.. oh well what an idiot move for me! there goes that rice cooker i wanted.
@cheerful: this has taught me it's going directly through my bank..
they didn't send a paper notice, it was more like an automated notice, but i thought it was a telemarketer or something like that... they should have sent a written notice...
i guess e-bill or paperless billing is the way for me to go!
I get e bills for everything. I like it because it means less stuff in the mail box! As soon as I get it, I schedule the payment. Everything is automatic except for the utilities because that amount varies every month.
yeah... sigh... m isn't going to be happy about that, but we both completely forgot.. oh well... great time for it to happen too, that's like 1/2 the amount of one of my son's christmas gifts. i am thoroughly bombed.... lmao i'm about to take a nap!!
I do the paperless thing too and for those accounts that I can, I set up a maximum to pay and the date to pay it so it automatically comes out, so I don't even have to remember to go online to pay them. I do this with our electric and cable bills. We just moved to a new city and got our first water bill, so I'm seeing if I can set this up for them as well.
Don't beat yourself up about it though. We all make mistakes.
@curly: so you can set it up with like a $30 max or something like that?

I'm really bombed out I have been uber busy this week with an event and forgot to pay my waterbill, well today i finally got around to calling them and they had already sent out the people to disconnect, AND charged a $50.00 fee because they sent them out that I had to pay :(... So I just wasted 50.00... the craft supplies, the shoes, the everything that I could have done with that 50.00... So I am thoroughly pissed at myself right now.
