Ugh. Since the wedding is next month (yikes!) this was my one and only chance to go home and tie up all my loose ends. My flight was scheduled to leave 2 hours ago. They pushed the time back so far I would miss my connection in Memphis. THey couldn’t find ANYTHING except for a flight leaving out tomorrow morning at 5:00am arriving in St. Louis at 8:30am
I have a meeting with my photographer, caterer, and a bridal shower tomorrow. I was also supposed to have a girls night tonight. I also have a TON of DIY projects there that I intended to work on. I am so frustrated! I had a major panic attack in the airport (talk about feeling like you’re insane). I am so stressed out.
So now I will be home for less than 48 hours since I have to come back Sunday night for work on Monday.
Should I call the airline and complain? I know it wouldn’t do any good. They didn’t offer any sort of like apology package or anything, like a free round-trip ticket to someplace which is what they usually do if a flight is overbooked or something.
Has anyone ever called to complain at a business before? I’m usually not one to do this but the squeaky wheel gets the grease and gosh darn it I want to be squeaky today!
Sorry I just needed to rant and FI isn’t being very helpful!

I’m so sorry to hear this. Planning a wedding is stressful enough not to mention doing it from out of state. Is it possible to arrange some of the meetings over the phone or through Skype? Maybe instead of a girl’s night out, why not ask all the attendants to come over and have a DIY party with wine and snacks? You can still hang out with everyone and get the projects done at the same time. As for complaining to the airline, it really depends on why the flight was delayed. If it was for something outside the airline’s control, like weather or FAA flight mandated groundings, I don’t see what the airline can do for you really but it doesn’t hurt to try though. Maybe they may upgrade you to first class. Good luck!

They won’t do a damn thing! I can’t even count the number of times my husband has flown and flights were cancelled or delayed (on more than one occasion, until the next morning) making him late for important meetings. IN this case though, he was flying US.
They don’t care and it is SO FRUSTERATING!

ALSO: If you have a Twitter account, I would write a Tweet to Delta about the horrible service and see if that gets you anywhere.

@Olive12: Thanks 🙂 It was going to be a girls night in to work on stuff!
They kept delaying because of a maintenance issue. I know Knoxville is not that large of an airport it just seems like the should have been able to get me out of there somehow!

You HAVE to send them a polite rant letter – detailing how VERY inconvenienced you were…. they wont give you a lot, but probably 5000-10000 miles… and 10000 is worth $100… better than a poke in the eye!

I was delayed by just over an hour last week when I was flying back from a trip home and they gave free snacks and earbuds lol. Our biggest issue was everyone thought we had landed as indicated.

@MySunshine: Oooh. i would be much better at that, I wouldn’t be emotional so that might work out better! Where would I find the e-mail address for that?
This stupid 48 trip is costing me one weeks worth of wages. Flying out of tiny airports is expensive.
