This dress fits me perfect, I already own it, it’s saving us a ton of money, and I feel so happy in it. I was miserable trying on gowns in boutiques. White (ant he many shades) is not my color, the dresses that are in my budget aren’t my style, and I wanted to avoid buying from China. While going through my closet, I realized that I had this beauty! How awesome!
It was a hard choice to make though, as I did love a lot of dresses, but they were way out of my price range.

I’m wearing an ivory gown, but if I could have worn ANYTHING, it would have been something like this:

@PetiteChicken: I’m hopefully going to be wearing this. I gave up on going to bridal shops too. :/ They don’t listen and hardly have anything in a size beyond a 10.
Hopefully that will work out otherwise, I will probably wear a giant red or green dress. We are having stormtroopers at our wedding, and it’s also Bioshock and Fallout 3 themed which are two of our favorite videogames. Goodness knows how much else randomness there will be.

@peachacid: Oh that would be so pretty! Well, you can probably wear that to someone elses wedding!! 😀

@PetiteChicken: I went along the same route as you. A line aqua/mint colored “prom” dress with elaborate yellow and gold beading. I’d rather spend $130 on an awesome dress in my fave color than (I don’t even know how much wedding gowns cost these days – $500 to $1000?) for a white dress in the same style/shape just because it’s white and labeled as “bridal” or wedding”.

I wore ivory. But if I hadn’t i’d have liked to have tried this on at least

@Aquaria: $500 – 1000 is considered “low end” at bridal salons. Seriously.That money has been reappropriated into lodging so we can spend a week in our home town and have some time before and after the wedding to relax

@Luayne: I recognized your dress right away :). Wedding Dress Fantasy has the most A-M-A-Z-I-N-G gowns. If I had a larger budget I would have gotten one from there (probably the same color as the one I already have though)

@Luayne: Wow! And just noticed you’re getting married on my birthday 😉

I’m wearing a mostly traditional dress but put an accent of blue in the skirt (there is a layer of blue tulle under the lace). Blue is one of my colors and I’ll have blue hydrangeas in my bridal bouquet. I seriously considered getting a totally blue dress, but my fiance expressed that he wanted me to wear white, so this is my idea of a compromise. 🙂
If you really do want to wear a conventional dress, don’t forget that buying a used dress is an option. I would have happily bought a used dress if I could have found something I liked in my size.

@Luayne: that dress is FAB!
I’m loving these colored dressed. I thought about going with color, but in the end I stuck with white/ivory.
I had one ivory dress made for me, and my reception dress is white & from Macy’s. The two together cost me under $400. I couldn’t imagine shelling out thousands just because something has the word “bridal” on it.

If we were getting married in a slightly less heat, I would have worn black and not thought twice.

@Aquaria: The original designer is Sancta Carina from Japan. I don’t think Wedding Dress Fantasy has ever made this particular dress as she had no photos to send me and also lied to me in emails saying she was the designer (I found the original after that). I’m having it made by a local seamstress who does beautiful work.
