I officially love this site now!! We're going through the same thing, got our NOA2 about two weeks ago and hoping the wait isn't much longer!! We didn't hire a lawyer, just joined the forums at Visa Journey and they were such a help. Good luck to all the brides waiting and congrats for the approvals!
Wishing everyone going through this the best of luck! My DH and I are close to filing the request for removal of the temporary greencard restrictions. :)
I got the NOA2 about a week ago, now jsut waiting to hear from the NVC!
I will not be beginning this process anytime soon, but has anybody done this when someone is already here in the United States on an H1B? Would his status change after we were married? I would imagine it might be easier but I would like to know if there are going to be any major complications down the road...
@CaroBee: I was on an H1B until I got my green card last fall. The process was pretty easy and quick. The fact that he has been in the States for a while will make it easier for sure. Your husband can continue to work and travel on the H1B until AOS is done, no problems there! I would suggest, though, that you still also file for the EAD, so that he will be independent from his employer sooner.
You should submit both your and his tax returns and pay stubs for the Affidavit of Support. He will also need copies of all the paperwork for any visa(s) he had before. The Medical in the U.S. is easy peasy, but the prices can vary a lot. Shop around for an authorized physician at a decent price. Being up to date on vaccines is a good idea, too.
Don't worry if you are at the interview and they want to talk to you separately. Despite of what the internet says, this is absolutely normal and nothing to worry about. Bring a wedding picture album to the interview, and of course all documentation of mutual finances and property.
All the paper work can be overwhelming at first, but in the end you will probably think that it wasn't so bad. Good luck!
Good luck carobee :)
My journey is finally almost done! All he needs to go is receive his interview date, attend the interview and get his visa and he will be back here with me, I can't wait!! Sydney better hurry up lol :)
