I agree with much of this list, but there are a few things I take issue with:

– Asking for references: while this seems like a great idea, this can get super annoying to our past clients when we have to ask them to send out their personal email to a stranger to talk about wedding photography every time we get a new inquiry (and you wouldn’t want to be in the position of having to answer those emails either). That’s what reviews are for – your photographer can share their reviews from google, theknot, weddingwire, wherever and you can get a good idea from there what experience other couples have had working with them.

– can you explain what you mean by “well-groomed”? Is your photographer there to be in the pictures and be a rockstar or are they there to take them (and wear what will best allow them to do that)? Obviously most of us can assume the wedding photog isn’t going to show up in jeans and a t-shirt.

As an aside, this list you posted as your own advice was ripped from another website so another question to ask your photographer (and anyone you choose to work with): are the images/text/advice you give made by you or are they stolen from someone else? Wink

Also this contains multiple links to your own website.  Educating people is great, but this is pretty much blatant self promotion.

Links have been removed per self promotion policy. Thanks!
