Over the weekend, I went to a “Brides for a Cause” roadshow– a Portland-based bridal botique that sells donated wedding gowns at steep discounts. Although my wedding isn’t until Summer 2016, I went just to check out the discounted dresses and see what styles fit me. I thought it would be better than being pressured by pushy consultants at fancy bridal botiques, and a great way to just peruse.
Well, I went with my mom and my sister, and I ended up leaving with a dress! It was hard to say no ’cause it cost only $175 (way below my dress budget, awesome!), and the roadshow was about to close for the night, and I wouldn’t be able to go back.
The dress fit perfect aside from the need to have it hemmed, and is in like-new condition. It’s definitely not what I imagined I would be wearing… but then again, a dress always looks different on the rack versus on a bee!
What do you think?? I need honest opinions please!! …Do I look like a messy, layered cake with all the pick-ups and assymmetric ruffles?!
Sorry about the weird lighting, the dress is more of an ivory color, not white (or yellow, as it looks in this photo). Thank you!!

I think it’s pretty. I kinda like the asymmetrical style! I am a victim of bridal bargins….. I have purchased 2 dresses at sample sales.
My advice oice is that if you love it, quit looking ASAP.

amccommon: thank you! Good luck on finding your dress! I went to their roadshow in Seattle, and they had only 500 dresses, but they were AMAZING. I’m sure their Portland botique store has even more options. Good luck and thanks for the compliments!! 🙂

I think that dress looks beautiful on you! I’ve signed my friends up to go to the dress dash held by brides for a cause in 2 weeks in portland, it sounds terrifying and fun at the same time! I would LOVE to find a deal like you did!! Here’s to not spending over a grand on a dress! and feel pretty at the same time!
