florence22:  Try and stay positive. I had a “period” in my early pregnancy. More than one actually. Everything turned out to be fine for me. I don’t think that’s always the case but I would try and avoid stressing as much as you possibly can until you get answers from the doctor. Prayers and positive thoughts your way my dear! I know it’s easier said than done to not stress 🙁

florence22:  I’m sorry you’re experiencing that! It is scary, but try not to panic ye. I’m glad they’re taking blood tests so you can see if things are looking good or not. It sounds like stardustintheeyes’s experience turned out fine…mine did not. If the worst does happen know that there are many bees here who understand and have been through it. Hopefully you don’t, but if you need support in the worst-case-scenario, know that we are here for you. 🙂 GL! It’s hard, but you need to be patient now and await your test results. You’ll probably have to go back in a few days to see how your numbers change after 48 hours.

florence22:  Many women have some bleeding early in their pregnancies and manage to carry to term. Naturally we all think about the worst possible outcome though.  To go from such a “high” finding out you are nurturing a new life, to think that you are at risk of miscarrying has to be very frightening.

Fingers crossed for you.

florence22:  First of all, you could just be having a bleed- and it *can* be normal.

It’s a little early for you to have a placenta, but another cause of bleeding (usually bright red blood) during pregnancy can be placenta praevia- which means placenta is covering the cervix or very close to it….but again, if you know you are 6 weeks, I wouldn’t find it likely that you’ve developed a placenta.

There are plenty of women who have early bleeding and end up having totally normal pregnancies.

it happened to a friend of mine – once after BD with her DH, once after an ultrasound, and once out of the blue.  apparently, things can be very sensitive in there, so any amount of irritation could be causing it.  sending you positive vibes xx

It happened to me at 7 weeks. Dark blood is better than bright blood. Mine was bright blood. My baby’s heart rate was low and that’s what caused the bleeding. I now have a very energetic, happy 20 mth old.

I hope everything turns out well for you and baby. Take it easy and lay down as much as possible! But yourself on bed rest if you want (outside of work of course) and don’t let yourself stress to much. Remind yourself that it’s not good for baby. That’s what helped me.

I had bleeding at 6 weeks. it was bright red and looked like a bit of a clot. I was completely freaked out. I went to the doctor, they did bloodwork and i had an ultrasound at 6w5d and everything looked good. I’m now 14w and baby looked great at my 12 week ultrasound.

If you’re nervous, call your doctor and get checked out, but everything is probably just fine. Good luck and congrats on the pregnancy!

My sister had bleeding with her first baby early on. He’s a happy, healthy 4 year old!  She has also had 2 MCs and each time knew that’s what was happening when the bleeding started (bright red, got heavy pretty quickly, cramping, etc.). Keeping you in my thoughts and hoping for the best.

So sorry to hear that…I hope everything will be ok! It didn’t turn out well when it happened to me, but there’s lots of bees who have come through it. I just know how stressful the waiting and unknown is 🙁
