Just curious, and kinda bored at the moment. We were watching one of the bazillion re-runs on Shark Week last night, and I’ve always said I would love to go cage diving with the sharks swimming all around. It’s on my bucket list. Buuuuut, it would have to be in a cage didn’t have any large openings, big enough for a toothy grin to fit into. For instance, on the show last night, there was a HUGE gap in between some of the bars on the cage-so big, it was big enough for the camera guy to stick his camera, and most of his upper body out into the open water. That, to me, is a little too daring. If a camera rig can go out, a shark snout can come in. Too much.
Anyway, would you go cage diving w/ sharks?

You couldn’t pay me to do this.

Fiance and I are going to Hawaii for our honeymoon and one of the activities on my list is to go cage diving with sharks.
Fiance does not sound too excited about it, and I’m playing the brave one. We’ll see what actually happens in September!

@SuperKate: Dittoooo…I was getting freaked out just watching people do this on tv yesterday. Ugh!

I haven’t and want to but Fiance did it with his ex wife and i saw the photos, so I don’t want to anymore..with him anyways.

@Nasta: LOL! You two are the exact opposite of me and my FH! We’re going to Hawaii on our honeymoon, too, and he REALLY wants to go cage diving with sharks and I’m none too excited about it. BUT.. I agreed to do it because it’s something he has always wanted to do, but we’ll see if I chicken out by then. haha!

Absolutely!! Cage diving with great whites off the coast of South Africa is on my vacation to-do list / bucket list.
And I’d love to see some other sharks (in open water – not cage) when I go scuba diving. To date, all I’ve seen are small swell sharks.

Depending on the type of shark, I’d go without a cage. I spent a huge part of my high school and college years surfing…you bump into sharks all the time. We go scalloping every summer…sharks swim by you there, too. Snorkeling-sharks, lobstering-sharks. I think it would pretty neat to get too feed them in chainmail, though. And I think it would be awesome hang out with a great white , so I would definetly want a cage at that point.

Glad to see I’m not the only chic w/ a man who’s chicken, lol. I want to sooo, bad, but the SO is all, “Nope, that’s nuts”. Guess I’m nuts. I’m pretty sure I could talk him into it, though.
I don’t think I’d want to go free diving w/ them in the vicinity, though. That’s just a litttttle too daring for my taste. More power to those that do, though, you’ve got bigger balls than me, lol!

- Wedding: September 2011 - Bent Creek Winery (Livermore, California); Reception: Family Residence (San Ramon, California)
Not in a million years! That would absolutely terrify me.

I just saw my first shark (just a 4 or 5 foot nurse shark) while snorkeling at Bahia Honda State Park in the Florida Keys last month. It was quite a rush! It was about 15 feet away and was checking me out. lol I’m sure my heartrate doubled! I am not scared of them enough to stop snorkeling, but don’t think I would want to be in a cage with a bunch around, especially Great Whites! No thanks. 🙂

I would love to do this! But my Darling Husband is scared of basically anything in the ocean so theres no way he would.

It would be the perfect way to confront my fear. I would totally do this, without a second thought.
