- Wedding: August 2013
My fiance’s family – who I generally adore – are driving me crazy! We are having our wedding in their backyard, so they seem to think it’s just a casual family party that they can invite anyone they want to. His aunt just asked me to invite her sister-in-law and niece and nephew (who I’ve never met nor heard of), his mom is inviting some great-aunt’s cousin, and his brother wants to bring like 6 friends! On top of all that, many of the folks on his side haven’t RSVP’d because we should just “know” that they’re coming. And I’m afraid that the day-of, random family and friends will just show up.
We are exactly at our budgeted number right now (100) and while it will be fine if we go over by a bit, I’d rather not spend hundreds of dollars to seat and feed a bunch of people that I’ve never met. But because it is at my in-laws house, I don’t feel like I can be super hardcore about saying no to extra guests, because they are quasi-hosts (although we are paying for the whole thing).
Mostly just needed to rant, but advice is welcome!
