I'm in love with the jcrew Lucinda dress.  It's $2500 and I simply cannot wrap my head around spending that much for a dress.  I'm on the hunt for an alternative look alike in the mean time.  Is anyone else in love with a dress they can't have?

I'm in love with the J.Crew Lucinda as well!  My alternative is www.etsy.com . I posted an alchemy request and received about 12 offers, all in the range from $250-$350!  I'm so excited, because the J.Crew dress is gorgeous, but I'm also having them add some scalloped eyelet edging to the top and bottom, so it will truly be ME!  Definitely check out Etsy!

it's very pretty!  The Lucinda gown looks like the kind of dress an experienced seamstress can make fairly easily.  You also have a great deal of time before your wedding just in case anything goes wrong.  But try to pay by credit card just in case anything goes wrong.

I love ETSY!  What a wonderful idea.  Will you keep us posted on how that went for you?  Can you tell me some of the etsy vendors that replied to your alchemy?

I too was in love with a dress I couldn't even begin to afford. A friend referred me to an on-line site www.gioavonnisbridalboutique.net who makes custom replica wedding gowns (In the USA), and it turned out beautifully and I couldn't be more pleased.

It's not perfect but it's a good match. You can add a petticoat to make it fuller and alter the neckline. It's avaible in white (marshmallow), ivory, and champange. You can make the sash the same color as the dress to make it more fluid. It's not a full sash more like a band.

yes, unfortunately. I saw a dress in magazines that I totally loved but it was over $2,000 and I just can't afford that.

I still love it though. My mom says she likes my dress I bought better than that dress though

I went to Kleinfelds one day, just for fun since I realized I could never afford anything there - but hey, when will I be able to try on a $10,000 dress again.  Well I fell in love with the $10,000 dress!

The good news is that I continued shopping and found an even better dress for a tenth of the price!
