I've been thru St. Francisville! I had no idea this was there. Isn't there also a large plantation nearby? I remember passing that landmark by when driving thru.
Wow that's so pretty and it does look like the wardrobe from the movie!
You can't do much better than have a venue that's sweet on style & price!
@Belle OMG there are soo many beautiful places nearby!! There's the Desert Plantation, among others, but this one just spoke to me and since my family is huge and M and I want to keep costs down and the guest list down we will only have about 50-75 people and he has already said he's inviting 25 people from his side, I think it will be more like 40, but we'll see! I figured the distance will cut down. And I think I remember Mrs Cowboy's post (I believe it was) and the beauty of her being in a bed and breakfast. I absolutely love it and since I want an outdoor wedding, this is perfection for me... But as you'll see in another post I'm quite torn.
Well you're torn but in a good way lol!
I had no freakin' clue that there were so many neat places in that area! My ex in laws and my dad's cousins live near there! Heck I would have stayed there in a trip as many times as I've come to LA!
@belle: i think it's fairly new, the owner owns an antique shop (can you tell?!) that specializes in high end european antiques.. seriously M would have to drag me out of there!!!
This is absolutely gorgeous. My only question is how many rooms are there? And is there a place for guest overflow?
@ireland: there are three bedrooms on site, but there are other inns and bed and breakfasts within a 3 mile radius that could accomodate the other guests. it is quite a large house without looking like it. i would definitely have tents up to protect guests from inclement weather, the louisiana sun, and well because i think they look so darned pretty!!
I would go for it if you FI is willing. It is absolutely gorgeous and you would have fairytale pictures
@belle: you so know i'm doing a vote whenever he pops the question!! the three venues i posted are my top three and i want to weigh the pros and cons. this one has a HUGE pro because we can stay there the entire weekend and not have to look for other accommodation. with this venue i see an afternoon wedding until like six or 7 and then our guests leaving and going to new orleans to party and have fun while we relax at the house and become acquainted with each other as newlyweds and then maybe host a brunch the next morning before we go on our honeymoon.
I like the aspect of staying there the entire weekend. I'd think it'd be such a special place to get ready for the wedding.
@ireland: not fi yet, but i'm working on it lol!! we only live an hour away so he could still get ready at home while my mom the girls and i could get ready at the b and b.
@belle: that's my favorite aspect of it, i'd get to stay there the entire weekend and not have to rush or worry about schedules or if everyone is on time, you know?
o.m.w.
I wish J would agree to a DW! Our home state is so ... blah. and frozen half the year. ick.
hey, on an unrelated note (I don't feel bad semi hijacking your thread, crebre, since we're buds ;P) I think this is my 1000th post!
@DD woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!! where are you originally from? we can definitely check out some off the beaten path venues!
Grand Rapids, Michigan. There's a TON of outdoor stuff, but we're getting married during the 8 months of cold :( and everything is just like countryclub! ballroom! churchbasement!
...bleh.
@DD: are you sure you can't find like a cozy inn? I betcha can!!
@kirssycake: omg i cannot wait to start planning!
@texasmeredith: i love it so much, i can't wait to see it in person!
Wonderful glorious M has vetoed my weekend wedding plan and said "not on my dime" but I may still get a wedding at this venue! He also wants an evening wedding so we can party into the night... Hmmm not so much for me?! I think the Benachi house is a much better fit because our out of town guests can have fun. He also doesn't want a large party AT ALL. he wants 25-50 people tops (I was thinking 75 tops).
Question for you already engaged bees and married bees, if I am getting married 5 hours where I am from, but I send invites to everyone with no save the dates, how many people do you think feasibly will be coming to the wedding? I am thinking maybe 25% of the people I send the invites to? So I can invite everyone in my Megasized Family and not hurt anyone's feelings...
MM-kay M doesn't like this bed and breakfast at all.. He likes the Benachi house a lot though... Sigh... Looks like if we get engaged we'll be getting married in New Orleans...

This is so premature but I have found my dream wedding venue!! I soo hope M is on board. After I told him that we could rent out this bed and breakfast for the weekend versus renting a venue for a day I think the cheapo in him became intrigued.. aren't the gardens exquisite? Maybe I can get him to take me away for my birthday and we can just experience the grounds? This speaks romance to me...
I give you Rosemound Gardens (can you hear the violins?!) Okay for everyone else thinking of visiting Louisiana or wanting an inexpensive honeymoon trip, this is located in St. Francisville and only about an hour from Baton Rouge and two hours top from Louisiana, but OMG... swoon!! They are doing a tasting sometime in the spring and I may have to drag M there just to peep it out....
I love this, when I was a girl I'd play in my mom's wardrobe (which is now a computer hutch) and imagine I was one of the kids from the Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe.
they allow guests to dine out here! isn't this gorgeous?!
