So even after trying to get help with the last poll, my future SIL couldn’t decide on a dress. I know deep down it is because she is in love with dresses with the off the shoulder sleeves but she couldn’t try any on. I was trying to order one online for her to try with some dresses but they would take too long to be here. I begged her to not rush (and settle) for a dress I am glad I convinced her!
Two weeks ago I went to my bridal store to pick out the bridesmaids dresses. My consultant that helped me pick my dress was there. She asked how things were going with FSIL since her appointment and told me about three new dresses they just got in. Finally, FSIL decided she wanted to my another appt. They got a Maggie Sottero in a size FSIL could try on. I haven’t seen her light up this much in a dress yet! All night she was telling me how much she LOVED it and couldn’t stop looking at the pictures. So what is stopping her?! Now she has been comparing it to that Casablanca again (which in my opinion no comparison!) So could use some opinions!
The new dress Maggie Sottero Jaclyn (that needs no changes except fullness in skirt)
two belts she likes (obsessed with flower belts) although it does come with a bling belt
The Casablanca 2017 (she would make it a sweatheart neck and have a matching jacket made $$)

@linnylou_88: It’s actually my future sister in law in the dresses but RIGHT?! she is absolutely STUNNING! I already ordered my dress so now helping her. My brother and I are getting married 6 months apart (sorry family! lol) so more or less helping each other a lot with planning.

There’s no comparison! The first is so SOOO much more flattering. It’s gorgeous on her 🙂

Definitely the first dress. It is beautiful!

Definitely the Maggie. I love how the details flow all the way down the dress, unlike the Casablanca that starts off strong and then just sorta sputters out once it reached the waistline. And it sounds your FSIL would have to spend extra $ just to alter the Casablanca to look more like the Maggie. Unless there’s a significant price difference there, I vote for the Maggie!

@coffeeaddict: the Casablanca is $900 and she has a 20% off “coupon” for that store so alterations would come to the same price of the Maggie at $1300. But why all that hassle? Casablanca has been the one she keeps going back to after every store but after yesterday it just doesn’t compare to Maggie in my eyes! Plus, my bridal store can’t order Casa and I HATED her experience at the other store and even she agrees the people at my store are better…..but she keeps giving me, I’ll call them “excuses” to not choose Maggie which are not making sense one bit! She was all about it yesterday.
Also, after I dropped her off with my brother he sent me this text: “So she found her dress! Don’t let her worry about price. She was so excited and happy and teary eyed, and now all of a sudden she’s worried about price.”
Side note, I went $300 over my dress budget and when all is said and done I will probably be $800 over sooo…..

More opinions please as to why you like or dislike each one!!!! Although the poll is helping!

There has to be something about the Casablanca that she LOVES. Maybe that is what is holding her back?

I love the Maggie on her! It’s a beautiful dress, and I think it is extremely flattering to her figure.
I personally find the odd-shaped, lace appliques at the hip line of the Casablanca to be very distracting. To me, that becomes the unintended — but de facto — focal point of that dress.

@ladybug26: It was the FIRST dress she liked….IDK
@Brielle: That is what I have been saying since day one. When I compare casablanca the the other tons she has put on I look right to the hip details.
She says she made her decision but won’t tell me yet so IDK

Love the Maggie. In my opinion the sweetheart neckline is both flattering and balances out the covered shoulders. I would be worried the jacket with the straight accross neckline of the second dress would look like too much fabric.

@AlwaysSunny: It won’t be straight. It would be sweetheart and have a jacket or sleeve made. This was us playing with stuff.
The “negatives” that she suddenly has about maggie: not poofy enough, train lot long enough, not enough sparkle.
Side by side trains are the same, more crinoline can be put under Maggie, and the super bling belt and bling veil would be plenty of sparkle. Maggie is such a simple elegance Casablanca is busy but she loves detail….Maggie just has softer not as in your face detail.
