OMG. YOU ARE MY HERO. Also this has been me for the past year! I got "proposed" to no ring! Then expecting a ring, still haven't gotten one. So now I seriously think it's coming and at this point I am driving myself CRAZY. I even resolved to wearing my old class ring just to bother my SO. (HE HATES IT) AND now I have basically told him it better appear really soon or else I will be buying my own! And that is not something that he is going to deal with :)
Also, I am very crazy green eyed jealous too!

we all get crazy. Last year, before we were engaged, SO's best friend proposed to his gf on my birthday (well...it's his birthday too...) and I had a full blown melt down. I was at the mall buying new makeup, and I had to leave to cry in my car. I was so embarassed!
But you know what? We got engaged a few months later, and it was so much fun wedding planning with other engaged couples!
FI proposed on our 7 year anniversary, so I feel your pain. I've had my fair share of crazy waiting moments too. None that ended in finding a real ring though. That's pretty awesome.
Yay congrats to you! I give you mad props! :) there is nothing wrong with being crazy when it comes to wanting that ring! :) glad its working out for you now :) post pics of your real ring and your E ring when you get it! :)

I created a thread about 6 months ago plotting how I could get my SO to propose sooner, so I can relate to the crazy. I try not to let it come out in front of SO, but I slip up occasionally.
I also bought myself a ring that I actually wear on my left index finger. It has LOVE written in diamonds. When I bought it, SO was like "what are you doing buying yourself a ring." Ummmmmm.....maybe because someone else won't!!! I didn't say that though, just smiled.

I love the hive - no one judges you for being nuts! SO and I are totally open about these things and thinks all of us waiting bees are mad!
I'll post a pic of the sapphire once I get it back - and when I EVENTUALLY get my e-ring i'll post that too!
@harperlynn - I'm glad i'm you're crazy hero! I hope you get that ring soon... I did suggest to SO to make one out of tin foil once...so if things get real bad that's what i'l be wearing! :)
@reign14 - I've read a few of your recent posts and hope that you can upgrade the 'love' ring soon!
@pinkandsparkly - I've done the same in the car and have had to pretend it was hayfever when OP in the car park have been looking at me! :)
@pinkandsparkly: I FEEL YOUR PAIN! Last year my FI wasn't really taking me seriously when I told him that I was ready to get married... there was a LOT of tension in the relationship that stemmed specifically from that issue. THEN, his best friend proposed to my best friend (they were dating for about as long as us) in February! AND THEN, my childhood best friend got engaged after JUST getting back with her boyfriend less than two months prior!!! AND THENNNN, my sister's best friend/my sort-of adopted sister got engaged!!!! Talk about Green-eyed monster... more like Green-eyed, horned, screeching monster! I was scary and had an atrocious melt-down with each engagement. (I sound so selfish looking back on it)
And then we got engaged a few months later lol... I love wedding planning with my best friends and feel horrible for all the pressure I had put on him. Not to mention the fact that he told me later that he actually had purchased a diamond several months back, but just hadn't bought a setting yet. Poor guy...
Haha! I can relate to the "raising e-ring funds" ideas! I told SO I could always sell my eggs, a kidney, my hair, be a surrogate uterus, and he could sell his sperm, too! LOL ANYTHING to raise money. I also said I'd be fine with literally a string instead!! (Like in The Count of Monte Cristo) I've also bought myself "crazy rings" so I can at least fantasize about looking at shiny things on my fingers...And yes, I've also said "You've had X amount of time to save up!!" Lol, I don't think these guys know what they put us through or how crazy they make us! ;)

I also sneak a ring on sometimes that belongs to my mom. I'll wear it for maybe 15 minutes in the mornings - it's a .5 carat OEC. i'll stare at its sparkles like an idiot, then put it back. I'm glad to hear other ladies have similar neuroses. :)

This is so funny, I loved reading this! I can fully understand as well. If you were at all laughing and a bit humerous with a mix of seriousness to it, you're a lot like me. Scares away some, but the ones who stick around are definately worth keeping around. It's funny I was just yesterday thinking "Buy myself a ring, put it on the left hand and tell him, if he's not putting one there I will because I'm tired of looking like the single girl without the ring, I want people to know I'm spoken for" but I'm a bit of a chicken so I don't think I'll be doing that!

...Not an e-ring unfortunately, but a very pretty one thats all mine (hahaha). (Sorry it's a long one)
So last week was pretty bad... My co-worker got engaged on their 1st anniversary, two weeks prior SO and i went for a walk and has a burger on our 8 YEAR anniversary! (long term waiting bees' I know you can understand my pain!)
This ensued with some sulking and moping around the house (Monday), followed by a serious case of the green eyed monster (Tuesday) followed by a full blown arguement going on until 1am (wednesday/thursday). The arguement was the usual - he hasn't saved enough money yet, i'd remind him that he's had 8 years to save and my co-workers FI has only had 12 months but managed to do pretty well (not my proudest moment!), SO would say 'well good for him' and then tell me that he can't pull money out of his A$$ so i'm just going to have to wait.
Then I went into crazy mode, (and i get pretty crazy) looking around the house for things to sell/ebay to raise funds, getting old things repaired so that I don't need to buy new ones etc. All in all it was pretty productive and I got a lot I wanted to do, done.
I then came across this old ring I bought off ebay a while back (that didn't fit as it was a rash decision to prove to SO that if he wasn't going to treat me to a ring then i'd treat myself [despite the fact that it's too small and was far too cheap to be anything of any real value!]) I'll call this my crazy ring. Well on Saturday, SO agreed to be my chauffer for the morning as he get cheap fuel through his Company. After a few errands I asked him to drop me off at the jewlers, and told him he didn't need to come with me (I can walk home from there). SO said he didn't mind coming, so we went in to get the 'crazy' ring re-sized. The jewler then told me it is a REAL Sapphire and Diamond white gold ring! YAY!
After that my SO starts talking to the jewler about engagement rings (he's so cute when he does this as he doesn't really know what he's talking about! we've been visiting this jewler for almost a year talking about rings), and the jewler said that he's getting a new shippment of diamonds in at the beginning of March. SO said that is when he is thinking of getting the ring made, as it will take a few weeks to make and for him to save for the rest.
So, the jewler has my beautiful sapphire and diamond ring... my finger size, which SO took a keen interest in and I've only got about 10 more weeks of crazy! (p.s it just hit me that I can now start counting in weeks (squee!))
In the mean time I told SO that i'd wear my new ring on my left hand (at home) so that I can pretend while i'm cooking dinner etc - he thinks i'm totally nuts but also found it a bit funny! So the green-eyed monster has gone and i'm completely bonkers! It's gonna be a fun 10 weeks!!!!
