I had the same problem as my musical taste is very different from FHs. I made a list of all the songs I liked and we have got it down to The xx – Angels, Iron and Wine – Such Great Heights, Cary Borthers – Blue Eyes, A Fine Frenzy – You Picked Me and  Lisa Mitchell – Valium. Good Luck!!!

Black Keys, The Only One. Its so sweet and its short so you can get the party started.

@netsacct:  We just got married and had this issue. We ended up using Love Love Love by Avalanche City. It’s a little more upbeat than the Black Keys, etc.. But just for reference that’s the kind of stuff we listen to.

Nope nope nope. I meant “You’re the One” by the Black Keys. The other one is not happy. Lol.

@netsacct:  I’m in the same boat. Currently on the contender list:  Crazly Little Thing Called Love by Queen, I Found You by Alabama Shakes, One and Only by Adele.

I love “Everlasting Light” by The Black Keys
I think these are the lyrics

Let me be your everlasting light
Sun when there is none
I’m a shepard for you
And I’ll guide you through
Let me be your everlasting light
Let me be your everlasting light
I’ll hold you when it’s cold
In me you can confide
When no one’s by your side
Let me be your everlasting light
Oh baby, can’t you see
Its shining just for you
Loneliness is over
Dark days are through
Let me be your everlasting light
A train going away from pain
Love is the coal
That makes this train roll
Let me be your everlasting light
Let me be your everlasting light

I don’t know, I think it’s sweet, although maybe more of a dance song. I want to have the following Black Keys songs played at some point at my wedding:
Everlasting Light
Girl Is On My Mind
Act Nice and Gentle With Me
Remember When
The Only One

Maybe they aren’t good first dance songs. Still great songs.

Ours was “Swing Life Away” by Rise Against.

It might be a little dated for your tastes, but I’m Gonna Be by The Proclaimers would be a cute one, and it’s not slow and sappy. My husband and I would have used that one, but then we just eloped.

Also, Ho Hey by The Lumineers?
