Hi all, my stepdaughter is going to be our flower girl, and although she wont understand, I do want to say a little something during my speech so far I have penned:
To wrap up I’d like to thank Summer for being our gorgeous flower girl today. Thank you for sharing your Daddy with me and bringing absolute joy to our lives. You already have a mum, but I will always love and care for you as if you were my own daughter. I look forward to watching you grow into a beautiful young woman.
Thoughts, suggestions? I dont want to sound like i am trying to replace her mum but want her to know that she is like my own.

@deedeelicious: I think that’s beautiful and it’s wonderfully sweet that you care enough about her to include that in your speech.

@deedeelicious: (tearing up) I think that’s perfect. Heartfelt, and not too long.

Aaaah, soooo sweet.
Words cannot express how we truly feel sometimes (Weddings especially), but I think you did wonderful with these ones.
She may not hear it / understand it now… but if you have a Videographer this is something you will want to record for later, so you can share with her
Infact, IF I was a younger Bride and marrying with Children (mine or his), I’d definitely want to include them in some way in the Ceremony / Day… and I’d want to record it, truly more for them than me
For no matter what type of Marriage, it is really the start to a new Family Unit… more so if there are kids already. It is great to make it inclusive… being able to show them the commitment that you are making BOTH to their Parent, as well as to them.
It is a gift that you give them for today, tomorrow and always (as the corny ring commercials go)
