I forgot to mention that I'm a Red Sox fan and he's a Yankees fan
... so generic baseball-theming might be our best bet. Naming the tables after baseball things would definitely be the least expensive route, but I'm a little worried that not having anything else baseball-related might seem a little random.
what about jars or baskets of roughed up baseballs as centerpeices (I saw this on a tv show... the closer I think. It's on their coffee table) it is SO cute!!! Or wheatgrass with baseballs. OR your cake toppers, you could be in a sox outfit and he could be in a yankees outfit on the top of your cake (sacralege! ;-) At my wedding the groomscake is going to be a baseball with the cubs logo (GO CUBS GO!) It would be cute too if as you left at the end of the night all of your wedding party held up bats over your heads like the marines hold swords (does that description make sense?) Also I think if it is done with a subtle, humorous touch it won't look like a little boys birthday party, and it sounds like it will work well with the country-ish thing you already have going!
I also wanted to give you kudos for remembering the groom. I went to an all pink wedding not to long ago, all the (midwestern, football playing type) guys in these pink vests just made me feel sad, I know it's mostly about the bride but it should be about the COUPLE and what they BOTH want! Thanks for remembering your man!
I know I'm probably way too late but I just have to say that the greatest use of a baseball theme I've ever seen at a wedding was a couple who had a bowl full of baseballs for people to sign as their guest book. So cool. I totally want to steal the idea for my wedding!

We're going for a rustic feeling for our reception, which is at a rural inn/b&b. I think the farmers' market theme will work really well but am worried that Mr.GV's interests aren't really represented. I'd like to find 1 or 2 inexpensive ways to include our common love of baseball in the reception while still sticking with the theme. I was thinking that vintage-y baseball stuff would fit well - mini pennants instead of bubbles/rice/confetti, Cracker Jack midnight snack, things like that. Unfortunately, my mom thinks that seems too Bar Mitzvah-ish instead of wedding-ish.
Boooo! What do you think? I know we could incorporate those things into the OOT bags, which is fine, but not everyone will get/see those. Any ideas?
