We just got a puppy 3 months ago! So by the time the wedding rolls around, he's going to be 6 months old. We already committed to a ring bearer. So we'll have our puppy walk down the aisle with FMIL and sit quietly (I hope) during the ceremony. He'll spend the afternoon with us as we take photos. And then he'll be off to spend a week with our dog sitter while we go on honeymoon.
I'm going to get him a nice little pink bow tie to wear (as soon as I can convince FI to be on board!) :)
Haha a flower dog! That's a good one... although on behalf of all males both human and canine, I ask that you not put a big red bow on Catch or something.
Oh, I'm doing worse (cringes)... We're having the florist make Catch a collar of wild flowers... but let me just say, as an un-neutered Bernese Mountain Dog, he's excedingly secure with his sexuality ;)
Catch and I are skeptical. What color are these flowers?
Mixed colors (wildflowers)... very manly wildflowers. Puts on stern face....
Manly wildflowers, huh. Riiiiiiiiight.
Just neuter him now and get it over with? Hehe...
I actually designed for one of my girlfriends a "bling bearer" t shirt and also the "flower girl" t shirt for her two dogs! On my zazzle site.
I think it's adorable Doctorgirl!!! What a handsome guy Catch will be!!!
Not sure if my venue allows pets or not yet, but I really wanted to have my dog act as "ring retriever" instead of having a ring bearer.
We incorporated our dog
<----- Mocha
by posing for a 'family portrait' (she did tricks) and by putting her on our table numbers. :)
Ring retriever... what a good idea! Too bad Catch doesn't fetch :P
I actually laughed out loud at the "get it over with"! Mr. Bee, do you have a suggestion for a more manly floral collar? I'm all ears!
Ohhh, those pictures are so sweet, JeniRae! We would have loved to have our dogs, Louie and George, involved in our wedding but it wasn't very easy to figure out logistically (they definitely wouldn't have been allowed for the church ceremony). If we were getting married outside, though, we would've had our guys walk my husband down the aisle. :)
A manly floral collar... that's a tough one.
I guess it's fine. Just don't like, put those antlers on top of his head so he looks like a jackalope. Or make him wear a doggie sweater... or those little booties.
Why must there be so many ways to turn male dogs into little girls!!!
I promise... none of that other stuff. I know I'm so cruel, but just think how adorable it will be to have his collar match the flower girls' floral crowns. Ok, nevermind... girls think it's adorable. (And yes I checked to make sure my apostrophes were in the right place).
OMG, you're matching his collar to the flower girls?! Sigh...
Just get him a nice steak bone or something, so he has something to look forward to. :-)
We're including the cat and parrot on out flickr instruction cards that will be at every place setting!
Photobucket messed the color up, the background is a sky blue not green!
Like JeniRae, we incorporated our dog, Tillie, into pre-ceremony pics off-site and featured her on one of our table numbers (all our numbers were shared interests/loves).
Doctorgirl, can you post a picture of Catch? Pleeease?
I just love Bernese Mountain Dogs. About as manly as you get, really.
@JeniRae what kind of dog is Mocha?
FI and I really wanted Pepper Anne in our ceremony, but the site we ended up with won't allow animals, sad. He was going to build her a little cart to haul that released flowers as she walked (he's an engineer, he loved the idea of this challenge) maybe if I put a little dress on her we can pretend she's weird looking baby...probably not.
I do think I'm gonna ask the photographer to come over early so I can get some shots of Pepper, Josie, and Izzy (those are our cats) and myself before taking her to doggie daycare, I'd at least like some photos of them from our big day since they are our "little girls" and practically children to us.
Oh so cute! We only have 2 cats, and by "our cats" I mean "my cats". My FI isn't around enough to be their dad yet, lol. They'll end up in pictures while we're all getting ready and I'll try to get my photographer to snap a few pictures of me with my furbabies.
They're so hard to photograph by myself! They come out with glowing eyes and squinty faces.
HEHE I LOVE this thread! And MrBee your comments are killin me, Im laughing out loud at my desk! My FI and I agree - no turning our manly man dogs into girls - aka no flowers, clothing, etc.
Our church is letting us have them in there, and the reception site said fine as well! Man I hope they dont near the candy buffet... We have our 2 dogs being our Ring dogs. One is a puggle, the other is a chocolate lab/chesapeake bay retriever mix (small and large). Brutus, the big one, might carry Bubbas leash in his mouth on the way down...does it all the time on their walks. They'll both have blue seersucker bowties on, but no pillows or anything. Theyre hilarious together, should make for some laughs. Too bad I might not be able tos ee them going down the aisle behind the closed doors
Oh-and they wont actually have the rings. Those will be safe with my dad. Brutus is a hoover, he eats anything he can pick up

HAHAHAHA oh my GOODNESS he is too cute!!!!! here are my 2 babies...Brutus is pouting because Bubba is too tired to play with him and had just growled at him
I would totally bring our cats but I don't think they would be very happy about it. FI and I have talked about incorporating their pics or something somewhere but we are still a year out and haven't figure out what we'll do yet.
Our poochie, Buddy, unfortunately will not be attending our wedding. I do however, want him to be included in some of our pictures.
We are going to have a little clay version of our dog and put it on the wedding cake! :-)
I would love to include my dog, but it just won't work. She'll get a special treat and maybe a little something special to wear that day though.
@FutureMrsTal-
Mocha is a purebred beagle with a 'blue tick' coloring instead of a traditional tri-color beagle (brown, black & white). We adopted her; she's an ex-rabbit hunter. Now she just hunts for treats.
Aww I love this thread! The pics are adorable
I am also including my dogs in the wedding. I have an American Bulldog named Bully and a beautiful mixed dog name Nika. Bully is a male so he will be wearing a simple bow tie and Nika is female so she is going to have flowers around her collar. They are like our kids so we are going to have them walk down the aisle along side our Junior Bridesmaids ;) We are not having a flower girl or ring barer, so the dogs will have to take this honor. hehe
I just need to find something to keep them occupied during the ceremony! I'm thinking a large bone and lots of treats.
Can't wait to see some pics of the dogs at the wedding.
@JeniRae-The coloring just looks an awful lot like my dog! Here's a picture of my girl...
@FutureMrsTal-
Is that a blue heeler (or some mix of one?)?? We have always had heelers growing up (our latest one just passed at 15!) and one reason I love Mocha's coloring is because she looks a bit like a heeler! They're great dogs! I'd love to get one when we live somewhere with a bit of land!
@JeniRae-
Yeah, at least we think shes a blue heeler mix. She's an amazing dog, I found her running down the highway (talk about luck!).
I would love to incorporate my dog Roxy. She is a purebred Boxer and just turned 1 year in May so by the time our wedding rolls around she'll ba about 2 1/2 but I don't think there is a way I can. The hardesrt part of our wedding will be to find someone to watch her for the night!! Here she is...computer is acting funny so I hope this works!

I know there are many of us that would like to incorporate our pets into our weddings. Some venues don't allow this, and a few do. We didn't pick our venue because it allowed pets, but it sure is an added bonus. We're going to have a regular farm out there!
If you can't have your pet at your wedding, did you (or will you) incorporate them at all?
If you can have your pet at your wedding, what role did they (or will they) play?
Catch is going to be a flower dog. I'm making two baskets that will hang from his harness so that both the flower girls can throw the petals from the baskets he'll be carrying. I think this will be really adorable. Nothing like two tiny girls with a giant dog!
