@mrshersch74:  Your blood volume has almost doubled at this point, so the heart is beating faster and stronger to circulate it. I would check you pule rate (check your pulse for minute or 30 seconds and x by two) when you are at rest and when you have been active. And then just let your MDs office know. I am sure it isn’t a big deal, but it never hurts to check in with them with concerns.

@mrshersch74:  If it is something keeping you up right now then I would check your pulse and then does your doctor have a nurse line or on call doctor you can speak with? Even if it turns our to be nothing, there is no harm in making a call. Baby needs you to not be worried too:)

@mrshersch74:  I hope you’re feeling better!  I’m only 18w pregnant and I’ve noticed not so much what my heart is beating faster, but it’s definitely beating harder.  I can feel it beating in all sorts of places in my body, and I can hear it in my ears!

I don’t know if this is the same thing as I am only just starting my 6th week, but I have felt this way since I conceived.  Especially at night and when I lay down, my heart goes a mile a minute and my heart is doing palpitations.  I chalk it up to being anxious/excited about being pregnant!

@laceandpearls10:  I had palpitations early on too!! Those should go away (at least, mine did) after a few weeks!

My heart is definitely beating noticeably harder. That was one of the first “symptoms” I had when I was newly pregnant, in addition to the crazy thirst. It still beats hard, but my BP hasn’t increased. I get winded a lot quicker too than I did pre-pregnancy. Those symptoms can be freaky sometimes, and I’d say definitely call your doctor if you’re really concerned, but I doubt it’s an ER-visit worthy symptom unless it’s painful or really causing discomfort.

I had heart palpitations right from the moment I went off the pill. I wonder if *that* is something to be worried about.

Hmmm…

I actually asked my doctor about this the other day (just a GP but with womens health focus).

She took my blood pressure, heart rate etc to make sure it’s nothing sinister, and then said it is very common and normal to feel your heart differently/more and to have palpitations, as your whole blood circulation changes with pregnancy.

Phew 🙂
