Check out the nearby colleges/universities! Not sure how professional you're going for, but I know that at MD we have several acapella Indian groups, dance teams, etc. I know Cornell has a big Indian presence but not sure what area in NY you want...
So glad you asked this! I'm going to try and look in the local Indian community for dance groups, singing groups, stuff like that. Try asking Indian parents where their kids take music lessons, those instructors should have hook ups...
i've heards of guy/band called Deep Soundz
and a husband wife team called Reena & Todd (Troy/Tim/Tony...sorry don't remember exactly, but maybe some creative google searches can help you.)
haven't heard either personally though.

I'm looking for an indian fusion music ensemble in the NY area. I found one Indian jazz ensemble but it's waaaaay too expensive (over $1000 for an hour and a half!). Any suggestions?
