Are there any Indian brides out there?
Although I'm still in the waiting boat, I will be planning one some day! You may have more luck posting in the South Asian board though... I know there's more of us hiding around :)
Thank you
I will do that!
I just posted some pictures of mine :) http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/take-a-peek-pics
Although mine was not traditional Indian .. really Indian fusion. Christian ceremony with Indian garb and some of the traditions. Let me know if I can help in any other way. Good luck! The South Asian board isn't that active. I find lots of ideas on the main board. I will soon be planning an Indian wedding but it will not be that traditional.
Thanks ladies
I hope that we'll chat more.
Indian weddings are awesome. The colors, the textures, the traditions...I am just dying to shoot an indian wedding. So much so that I'm offering a discount to my first indian bride: 10% off and I pay the sales tax.
We need to keep this going

Oh me me.. Am in Chennai and its going to be a traditional Tamil wedding.
Anura: Congrats! I know you're very excited about your upcoming wedding! You mentioned that its going to be a traditional Tamil wedding....if you don't mind me asking...how does a "Tamil" wedding goes? Will your wedding celebration be a one day affair or is it a 2-3 day affair? What are your colors and decor? Thanks for sharing!

Simplyunique: The wedding would be a 2 day event. We are going to have the reception on the first day. On the second day, we are going to be tieing the knot literally.
The custom is that the groom will tie a yellow thread with a pendant, around the bride's neck. Like a long necklace.
Before that, there is a ritual in which the groom would walk away saying that he wants to become a sanyasi (a sage in search of enlightment). Then the brother of the Bride would speak to him saying that he and his family would give his sister away to him so that he can be a grahasta (A householder/family man).
I would be wearing a red saree. Red is considered as an ospicious colour.
Here's a pic of me in my engagement.

Anura: Oh wow that's awesome! Thank you for posting that link for me I read it and its always great to learn something new!
