Soo I just found out that I need to somehow indicate each guest's meal selection on their placecards. The first problem is that I absent-mindedly did not ask for each individual's selection on the reply card (I just had each family indicate the number of choices for each option). So now I'll need to call around and ask people who wanted what meal =(

But the second thing is, I can't visualize how I should be indicating the meal selection. I am just printing the placecards myself and they won't be too fancy. But how are you bees going to (or how did you) indicate meal choices on your place cards? I need some ideas!

I went to 2 weddings where this had to be done.  On one of them, they used a lil paper cut out and had a star, heart or flower cut out in the top right corner.  The star was chicken, the heart was beef and the flower was fish.  If there was no cut out it was vegetarian.  The other one was similar, instead of cut outs though, they did a tiny stamps.  Hope that helps!

If you're printing them yourself, you could find cute clip art images in Word/internet or something of a fish, a cow, a chicken, broccoli, etc and put the proper clip art picture on each person's card.

You have gotten good suggestions thus far but if you want the easy route you can go to Staples and get those coloured dot stickers for dirt cheap and have a different colour dot represent each meal choice!

I've also seen a simple stick placed on the back of the card. You can color-code or code by shape.

I've seen names printed in different colors indicating different meals.

Also, they have tiny chicken, fish, cow rubber stamps that I've seen used.

We only have 2 options, so we are thinking of putting a { in front of the persons name for one of the options...keep in mind whatever it is should be easily visible from a couple feet away so its not a problem for the waiters.

I've seen the names printed in different colors and that worked well. Perhaps you have family who can help with making the calls? Or send out a funny email that includes "hey, I forgot to have you specifiy which meal you wanted, can you email me back and let me know?"

Rather than putting stickers on the cards or using different colored font (which might be hard to distinguish), I think I might just use two different colored cards in our wedding colors.  Maybe a lavendar or light purple card for Chicken & a black card for Beef.  In my honest opinion, clip art or stickers might 'cheapen' the look of the placecards (sorry!).

I am adding ribbon in a hole that is punched through our cards. The ribbon will be color coordinated for food choices. You could punch a hold in your cards and ass your wedding colors

Our escort cards are going to bookmarks and we're indicating the meal selection with the ribbon tied at the top of the bookmark.
