Not the biggest help, but I’m in the same boat. While not incredibly appropriate, we’ll be recessing to “Make It Wit Chu” by Queens of the Stone Age. That’s all we’ve worked out so far.

There’s a Safety Suit song that we borrowed some lyrics from for our programs! I think it was “Never Stop”?

@aliciaspinnet:  I don’t have any suggestions as we are still trying to solve the same mystery. I know there are a ton of love-y songs that are cool, different, and appropriate, but I just can’t think of them offhand!

Our recessional was We are Going to be Friends by the White Stripes.  I walked down the aisle to the theme song from Princess Bride which might be a bit cheesey for you but I loved the movie.

Other ones we considered were Home by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Here Comes Your Man by the Pixies and Never Tear us Apart by INXS.

If you have Spotify, you might want to check out the Vitamin String Quartet for inspiration.  They have a ton of Indie/Alt rock wedding albums.

@Laurenskii:  I want to squeeze you so hard right now!   Totally fits right in with our scene!

my fiancé and I have chosen a City and Colour song for our first dance (Northern Wind) and are incorporating both newer, acoustic/ indie music as well as some classic oldies (frank Sinatra, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, etc) to keep with the romantic feel but without having to worry about excluding fans of other genres/ keep it timeless while still integrating music that is personal and some of our favorites. So happy to see other bees using indie music!!! I love it!

@aliciaspinnet:  Haha, yea. Well, we’re processing in to “Make it With You” by Bread, so I liked the parallel. And no one pays too much attention to the recessional music anyways.

@aliciaspinnet:  We’re going to leave the ceremony (recess?) with Cake’s Love You Madly.  I think it’s hilarious that the first line is “I don’t want to wonder if this is a blunder…”

@CQKing:  I wanted “Northern Wind” to be my first dance song, but the DH said he liked it, but didn’t love it.  I really wish I would have fought harder to have used it.  Oh well :-

We ended up using Ingrid Michaelson’s cover of “Can’t Help Falling in Love With You.”
