Hmm...Boston Public Library springs to mind. Inside Faneuil Hall could be cute for action shots.
Would one of the museums allow you to take your pics there? If so, I would totally check out the Institute of Contemporary Art. Also, the Museum of Science or the Aquarium would be amazing.
Some of the downtown hotels have really beautiful lobbies & public spaces that would make for great photo ops also.
Thanks for the suggestions!
I love the idea of museums, but because we're taking pictures after work, most of them will be closed!
Hmmm..what kind of vibe are you going for?
I have seen a lot of New York brides do subway shots, you could probably get some at South Station if you want somehting a little different. The Prudential Center/Copley place should be open and has some cool locations inside like the waterfall and the walkway between the two buildings, which could be cool looking in the rain.
I would try calling some of the area hotels because alot of them are absolutely gorgeous, maybe the Boston Harbor Hotel, or the Langham? The inside of the Intercontinental is kind of cool, too.
Do you have any hobbies? If you like bowling thats indoors or something like that?
I can't wait to see what you choose! :)
Thanks everyone again! We ended up shooting at the Liberty Hotel! :) I'm sure we have some good photos, and I'll share as soon as I have them!
:)
@ toucan: We're looking at indoor locations for engagement pics. Can you let me know how you were able to do it at the Libery Hotel? Did you have to contact someone in charge? Thanks!
LanaJade: just thought I would throw my two cents in since I missed Toucan's original post. We did our E-photos at the New England Aquarium (we got there really early on a SUnday morning so it wasn't crowded at all!) If fish are not your thing, the Atrium in the Architecture Building at MIT (right on Mass Ave) would offer some fabulous pictures. I walk through there everyday and the natural light and columns are AWESOME!
@LanaJade hehe... we didn't ask anyone! We kinda just did our own thing, and waited for someone to kick us out... except no one did! :)
Also, I just posted a teaser here: http://thetoucansnest.blogspot.com/2009/06/just-teaser.html
:)
Thanks brideesq and toucan! My photog is convinced that we can't do indoor shoots because we need permits, saying how it's worse since 9/11 and blah blah. I kind of want to call his BS and find someone else who would do indoor shoots for us.
LanaJade: I think your photgrapher might be right, especially when dealing with places like the subway or state and federal government buildings (and you never see epics or wedding photos in T wink wink)...but most places like hotels and the like do not mind as long as you are not using the photos for commercial use. Different places have different requirements. For example, in Brookline, it is my understanding that you should get a permit for photos at Lars Anderson Park, but I do not know how many permits are actually pulled. I called the Aquarium before we went and they were super helpful.
Boston Public Library could also be fabulous. There policy is published here if your photographer had an issue.

Hi everyone!
I was wondering if you guys could help me out! As you might know, the mister and I are planning to have some anniversary pictures taken. We're scheduled to take them on Tuesday late afternoon/evening, and it's looking like it's going to rain (I know, big news around here, huh?). Anyone have any good ideas for INDOOR shooting locations in Boston/boston area?
Any thoughts would be MUCH appreciated!
Thanks!
