I’ve searched on WB but haven’t found my answer. I know that sand ceremony’s are typically for outdoor weddings but I think it’s a really beautiful ceremony and hope to do it for our indoor church wedding. Is this tacky?
We would’ve likely used the family unity candle that my parents and all of my uncles lit in their weddings but my cousin used it last year for his wedding and no one blew it out so when we got to church Sunday it was a puddle of goo. I guess this gives me an excuse to start a “new” tradition for our family.

We are doing an indoor sand unity ceremony as well. We had decided to do that because I didn’t really like the candle thing, then I was kind of waffling back and forth and our pastor read us the wording for each and I was sold on the sand.
It’s really beautiful how it talks about combining our individual lives. I really didn’t like how the candle ceremony talks about extinguishing the individual lives and becoming a new entity.
