Probably pretty unlikely unles you go to a Chinatown bakery.   If that’s a hard budget, I’d just do the sheet cake fake tiers route.   Dont even bother wasting your time looking.

I think 3.50 is a normal price around here. We are having a small cake and cupcakes for our wedding. We are going to use Ivy’s but haven’t set up a tasting yet

Nope.  I looked around and quickly gave up and went with cupcakes – that are absolutely gorgeous and a fraction of the price.

The cheapest cake I found for 180 guests was around 400…and, it LOOKED cheap.

The other option is to go with one small pretty round cake for you and hubby to cut, and have the rest in sheet cake.

A big beautiful tiered cake was one of the first things to get the ax in my wedding budget 😛

Costco has delicious cake for a great price. Perhaps you could get some round cakes and put them on tiers? like this (with more time, you could glam this up a bit )Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

I’m planning on having a small, 2 tiered cake for my fiance and I and the family, then doing a dessert table with cupcakes and a few other goodies. I think with the right decor, this could be a beautiful option.  You could also go for something completely unexpected, like a beautiful cheesecake or variety of pies.
