Does anyone have a recommendation of where I could get a wedding cake for less than $10/serving in NYC?

     Thanks!

You can try my baker, they are on LI but they are amazing!!!  The cake ended up at about $4/person and people were raving about it.

Hi!  Check out A Simple Cake (http://www.asimplecake.com/index.php).  It's a more budget friendly venture started by Gail Watson, whose cakes are simple and elegant.  I checked the site, and many of the designs are between $6.50-8 per slice.  Good luck!

What about Sam's Club or Costco? Yuo can get a smaller one to cut/present and save some money that way, too, but still get the effect of a larger cake. Or even have satellite layers!

The following cake-makers/bakers/bakeries are all $8/serving or under. That was our cake budget so we did the research.

Two Little Red Hens (in UES, FANTASTIC red velvet and chocolate cake, we almost went with them)

    Sugar Sweet Sunshine (in LES)

    Soutine Bakery (UWS)

Judy from Silk Cakes (in Chinatown, she's a one-woman operation, fondant-heavy but very nice design and good cake)

Deborah from City Sweets (in West Village, another one-woman operation, GREAT cakes! We're going w/ her)

There are a few more in Brooklyn, I can only remember Baked (Red Hook?) and Piece of Cake off of my head. We wanted ours in Manhattan so we didn't do tastings with any of them, but I know Baked is super-affordable and supposed to be pretty tasty too.

     Hope that helped!

I LOVE Sugar Sweet Sunshine! I only know them as a cupcake bakery, but they're fabulous.

I loved Deb from City Sweets! We did cupcakes with her and they were rich tasting and moist, and the buttercream frosting was so light and delicious. Everyone at our wedding raved about them! She does cakes too.

I used Silk Cakes by Judy Lai and I thought she made my cake GREAT.  It was beautiful, tasted good and smelled good.  She's very affordable.  Basic cake starts at $5 a slice and goes up from there depending what you want your design to look like.

I'm also using Judy from Silk Cakes. I was hesitant about the fondant but hers actually tasted good, wasn't as thick and sweet as others I tasted. Plus, her samples were outrageously delicious! Unique combinations and she does gorgeous work. She's also super nice!

We are also going with Judy. Her cakes are gorgeous, just the asthetic we were looking for, and everything we tasted was fabulous!

We got ours at Cake Alchemy, it's $13/pp, which is a little bit more than your budget but DELICIOUS. We tried Baked which was cheaper $6/pp but once we tried Cake Alchemy, there was no way back. They will also make ANY flavor you want (we are having chocolate cake with mango butter and straciatella cake with blood orange butter covered with fondant) and if you book them for your wedding, you can get 6" cake before the wedding to try (we got ours with two personalized flavors that are typically not on their regular menu and invited our friends over to help us "taste". We loved it and they loved it :-)

Try Lauren at Gobblin Cakes....sooo delicious and amazing cake design.  I ordered a birthday cake from her and it was seriously snarfed up by everyone.  She's relatively inexpensive and will deliver to the city.

We loved Judy's creations from SilkCakes as well.  I once ordered 70 cup cakes for a party (ok, it was really to sample more flavor combos ;)  and each one was fabulous! I especially adored the fragrantly nutty sesame with milk frosting!

If you haven't found one yet, try Venieros-- I think it works out to about $4 a serving, their buttercream cakes are delicious-- and much prettier than on the website.
