We are going to Eluthura Island in the Bahamas.  Its about your price- but thats before food and such.  I think if you start looking at some of the lesser traveled islands you should find some good deals.

I second Punta Cana!!!!!  I’ve been there twice and the beaches are amazing.  Check out Apple Vacations for all inclusive deals.  Also, use tripadvisor.com before booking the hotel.  You will get honest reviews of the properties along with photos.

Flights can be really expensive so what we did was just sign up for all the travel deal websites so we could find affordable airfare.  A lot of flights to carribean islands are the same price as it would be to travel within the US.  Then we looked around for a cute but affordable little private cottage.  We ended up finding a gorgeous little place up a hill over looking the ocean for $80/night, that’s another great thing about the Carribean, lots of very expensive things but also some really great deals.  And as for food once you get down there there’s so much fresh food our lunch consisted of avacados and bread and oranges, really fresh stuff that tasted amazing compared to what you can buy here but between the two of us cost maybe $4.  We also had a kitchen so some of the dinners we cooked ourselves.

@troubled: that sounds amazing! And so cheap.  I’d love to stay somewhere you stayed!
