    Hi All,

First time poster here and I'm hoping to get some good advice since there seems to be a lot of creative ideas floating around here.

I live in Providence and despite being in the Ocean state, I am actually not looking to have a beach wedding...I would love to have a ceremony near the woods, under a beautiful tree, or amid green hills instead.  A garden would be another possibility.  I have seen some beautiful places but they are all totally out of my budget.  Is my only option to rent out a camp or park?  It would be cost effective to bring in my own food and drink, but I'm just worried about the logistics of setting all that up, additional rental fees, etc and restrictions as well.  Are there any privacy concerns with a public park wedding (crashers)? Does anyone have any brilliant options I may not have considered?

I would consider anything in New England provided it wasn't too far up North.  I'm also originally from NY so upstate would also be ok there.

Thanks for any and all suggestions!

I am getting married at groveland fairways in groveland ma and its on a course surrounded by trees. I am doing an outdoor ceremony and outdoor cocktail hour but indoor reception but i believe you can do a tented wedding if you wanted. I am going to use cloverleaf catering who is very reasonable in price and her food is wonderful. To have ceremony on site and rent the whole place for the day on a saturday was 2000 (does not include food). It might be different with a tented wedding but if your looking to cut costs you could  do a friday of sunday. It cant hurt to check out their website it is beautiful there.

@AlyssaC417:  ooh thanks i just took a look at their website and emailed them, that is a great suggestion!  I'm having a Sunday wedding so if it costs even less then, all the better.  Do you know the time limit for having a ceremony and reception there?  One of the other problems I'm facing is finding a place we can basically have for the whole day...this will be a Jewish wedding which can be looong, lol...so a lot of places that have 5 hour time limits are not gonna work!

If you include the ceremony I believe it is 6 1/2 hours but I think it is not that much to add extra hours. I would talk to Liz she is very nice and I think she would work on you. I know they close the whole place down for the day so I don't see it being a problem to get the whole place. I am doing ceremony at 3:30 so guest can arrive at 3:00 and will be there untill 9:00. She also said I could arrive early to get ready there. I would definately ask I know you can add on hours and the whole place is yours.

Hey there, I had my wedding at friendly crossways in Harvard, MA. We got married in their apple orchard and then rented a tent. It's usually a retreat center so my fam which is from CA got to stay and help decorate for the weekend which was nice since it was total DIY. You can use them for catering {which was actually above most wedding food I've had} or you can bring in your own and they let you use the kitchen on site.

@AlyssaC417: LOL I was told they don't have our first choice of date available and then I see that your date is our date! Thanks for the suggestion though!  If we end up with another date this is definitely in the running...seems like a great place!  I can't believe places are booked so far out...I thought I was being so proactive Smile

@PizzutiStudios:  This is another great suggestion, a great price for the whole weekend.  Just wish I wouldn't have to rent a tent and all that extra stuff since I would have a larger group than could be accommodated indoors.  Sigh...

I can't believe that! I am sorry I guess I should have askes that to begin with! They actually had my first date available which was Sunday the second. So thats why I picked the first and when I booked the first she had said that someone had just inquired about the date and was ready to do a deposit. Everyone is getting things done early I guess! Well I hope a second date works goodluck!

Sounds like you have some good options, but if you're still looking for others you could try the Meeting House in Tiverton, RI. I am just having my reception there, but they have plenty of outdoor space for a beautiful ceremony. Another option is Colt State Park, they have a ton a places to have an outdoor wedding. You have to bring in everthing youself, and you have it all day, but they do not allow alcohol. The alcohol thing was a dealbreaker for me, but hopefully this helps!

Have you looked into the Casino at Roger Williams Park? It sounds like just what you are looking for and as a Providence resident, you even get a discount on the rental fee. It's not in the zoo part. It's in the gardens and right near a pond with gazebo (think nice outdoor photos under the trees). I believe it comes with tables and chairs so you would not need to rent those. There are 2 floors inside and lots of green space outside. I'm not sure if you only want outdoors but it's worth looking into as it's in agreat location.

I do not know what you are looking for as a rental fee but realize that it is expensive to rent tables and chairs. I tried to get cocktail tables from 3 seperate rental companies in RI and all were charging a $100 + delivery fee, including the company who we rented out tent from as it is a seperate delivery. Also, this could have been our venue but one company specifically told us they do not like to rent to outdoor locations as there is a higher risk of their equipment getting stolen overnight.

We're not using it, but the Warren Center in Ashland, MA is really pretty. It was a little too small for us, but for a warmer weather/outdoors wedding it would be beautiful.

I'm getting married at the Coachmen Lodge in Bellingham, MA. Right outside of Cumberland. It's an outdoor venue and then go inside to their function halls.
