I’m getting married in July 2013 and can’t spend more than $3,500 on a photographer in Northern NJ – easier said than done! I really like natural, photojournalism-type photos. Does anyone have any suggestions??

I like to refer my photographer to others.
Very reasonable and very good IMO

I’ve just gone through this same stress in the Philadelphia area! JPG Photography comes in around $3000 for a senior associate and their work is lovely. http://www.jpgphotography.com
We ended up going with a NYC photographer recommended on here, actually! I could only find posts from a few years ago, but he’s still VERY affordable, even when factoring in that we’ll have to pay him for travel to Philly. His name is Aaron Almendral and he was really accommodating setting up a time to Skype with us (we live in London) and just really friendly and helpful. His reviews on weddingwire are good, too. http://www.flickr.com/photos/aaronalmendral/sets/72157600029574820/show/

Ryan Sands is really great to work with: http://ryansandsphotography.com/. Pretty inexpensive, too. He doesn’t seem to have his prices posted any more, but our package (including engagement photos) was under $2000.

Dont forget you can look upstate in NY 🙂 Many travel and service the NYC area so NNJ falls in line with NYC. Hudson Valley, Albany, and Syracuse.
If any of you have a tough time fitting your budget/finding one you love close to you, expand your search area. I dont know of any photographer that wont travel at least 5 hours from home. 🙂 You can Skype/Facetime consults.

We’re using Blooming Studios, based in Short Hills. They have a nice style and a few packages under $3500.
