We had our wedding at Barkley Brook (bbrook.ca) in Langley.  It has an outdoor ceremony spot, the owner is very nice and flexible. We paid $60/head for just the reception, it comes to $75 a head with the ceremony and reception – that includes everything except the DJ – it includes all food, decorations (your choice) and servers, cleanup etc.

Other options are:

Saar Banks Farm (Abbotsford)

Old Orchard Hall (Port Moody)
Diamon Alumni Center (Burnaby)

How is the venue search going? Find a place you like yet? Would love to hear an update!

I have some ideas for you if you’re still looking for a really inexpensive venue… the key is to look outside of “wedding” venues but to other spaces that can host whatever number of people you are expecting. Try farms, historic houses (but not the ones that are on wedding vendor lists), museums, etc. I think the vancouver museum and/or the martime museum is inexpensive (not 100% sure of this but I think so)… Have a look at those if you’re still looking for a place. I believe you can do an outdoor ceremony there too because they are right near the beach/grassy park area in kits.

Also, not sure if this fits with your theme but I booked recently at soundhouse studios and it was super affordable, it looks like it cost more than it did… I am having my ceremony in an outdoor park owned by the city (I just got a permit with them, then going to this place for the reception. I’m on a super budget as well, my total budget so far is $8,500 for everything.

Semiahmoo Fish and Game is another good one – it’s in White Rock.

@Melbeano:  Thanks! Don’t worry, you’ve got time on your side, with your date in mid-2015… most places will still be available!

@Melbeano:  We brought in our own alcohol and they provided a bartender, which was free as long as we had over 50 people (I think it was 50…).

It was very nice! The owner is a little bit out there, but she is very nice and wants the best for everybody!
