My ode to the longest running WB thread ever!

I really appreciate everyone's responses. I'm still learning everyone's story, so i apologize for not doing personals.
Last night I took my first set of Letrozole - it sounds like I'm taking a pretty high dose (three 2.5 mgs each night CD3-7). I'm happy to hear that most of you had good response with few side effects even if it didn't result in a BFP.
It sounds like there are a number of you moving onto IVF and who are also doing IUIs this cycle. It is so nice to know that there are others who are going through the same experiences and challenges as my DH and I are - though I wish none of us had to experience this challenge.
@Jenn23, that pie looks soooo good. Where did you go on vacation? We just got back from Kauai and spent much of our time snorkeling. No sharks but sea turtles!
I had an u/s this morning and I have 4 follicles! 2 on each side, one 10mm and three 8mm. I go back on Friday to see if they have grown and for more blood work. The RE is hoping only 2 of them grow, if it looks like I have more that are maturing and my E2 levels are going too high then we will cut down on my dose and hope that one or two stop growing. My lining looks great too, its already at a 6.8mm. With the Clomid and Femara I had issues with my lining being too thin so this is a good sign.
Hopefully this means we will have our next IUI soon!
Okay so to continue from the other thread... :-)
@mrswhit3 Hubs and I are both self employed so I can't even get MATERNITY coverage, much less help with fertility issues. Good times! I did however find an acupuncturist with great reviews that only charges $65 a session so that's not too bad. After all the blood work, the sperm analysis, the HSG, etc, this will be the cheapest thing so far. My fingers are crossed and I'm hopeful :-)
@waitingbee can't wait to hear how your first visit goes!
@sweetkate: HOORAY! So glad you're finally getting some good news. This round sounds so promising already. Fingers crossed that you have 2 frontrunners tomorrow.
@bellamargot: Sorry about the BFN :( My acu was $65 too, which I think is pretty reasonable for an hour session. It does add up over time, but it's still cheaper than a month of drugs and IUI! One tip for you on the Chinese Herbs - I used Evergreen Herbs brand, and they charge the same amount for a bottle of powderered herbs (that you make into tea) or capsuled herbs. But with the powder you get 100g per bottle - which will definitely last more than one cycle, where the capsuled you only get 50g. The herbs are what helped my cycle become more regular, very quickly. Hope you like it, and hope it helps!
@sweetkate: That's great! You are using injectables right? Are there a lot of side effects?
I went to the RE this morning for my baseline ultrasound (CD2). First time having an ultrasound during AF. Yuck. Anyway, I'm cleared to start my injectable cycle. So this evening, DH gets to stick me with the needle. I'm a little nervous. Not because of the shot. I don't mind shots. I'm more nervous about my husband enjoying sticking me with needles...
@sweetkate: yay!!! that's GREAT news!!!
and.... my FI said we can try again in March! YAY!!! since we're going on the honeymoon AFTER the wedding (silly man thought we were gonna wait until summer!!!)
I'm thinking I might go back to my chiropractor in Jan. and Feb to get things realigned again in the hopes that helps out some....
until then, does anyone wanna put me in a coma and do my wedding stuff for me??? cause it's gonna be a looooong 9 months!!!! (ok, well, 8 months in seven days, but who's countin? ;) )
@sacbride10: Yup, I am using Follistim. Great thing about injectibles, absolutely no side effects! A couple of times I have left bruises from the injections, but they don't hurt and it doesn't happen every time. And at least your husband is willing to help, mine doesn't even want to look when I do it! He usually goes to another room.
@sweetkate: Awesome!!!
I feel so out of the loop because I have been away when a lot of new people have joined!! I will catch up, I promise!
Does anyone know, when you use the cheap (since I can't start my monitor this cycle) ovulation kits, should the test line get progressively darker closer to ovulation? Mine was darker yesterday than it was today, but not dark enough for an LH surge. I am confused!!
@heathaah:I use both types of OPK's and I get a fade in pattern on the cheapy ones. Not everyone gets a fade in but its good because it can give you a few days advance notice of O. I usually keep mine once I start testing and compare them day to day to see it gradually get darker. Sometimes with the cheap ones its hard for me to tell if its true positive, keeping the prior days tests help me to judge.
Just as a side note, did everyone and their grandmother get pregnant over July 4th weekend?? The amount of posts is kinda ridiculous and I had 2 IRL announcements!
I'm totally sulking. No O for me this month, and this was from my good side :( Not liking this. At. All.
@sweetkate: Yay! 4 follicles!!! That's fantastic news.
@1littlep: We went to Key West and snorkeled every day, too. I love sea turtles! We did a turtle snorkel swim last year on our honeymoon in St. Thomas. They are adorable. I bet you had a blast in Hawaii!!!!
@sacbride10: Hope you are doing ok. Been thinking of you...any luck finding a group to talk to?
OK, so I have amazing news to share. FINALLY some good news for my husband and I after what has been easily the worst year ever. He got his green card approved today!! YAY!!!!! We've been preparing for the green card interview for 9 months! So much paperwork, phone calls, letters, DRAMA and today was the big day. The immigration officer was nice and only asked a few questions and said my husband was approved. WooHoo!!!! We're both so happy. Tonight is celebration time!
@MrsMaine: I also noticed today there are a lot of new pregnancy posts! I'm avoiding the new pregnancy posts right now. It's just too much for me. I totally understand!
@MrsMaine: I have noticed that as well, and it makes me so sad, for myself. It is just totally jealousy, especially the sheer number of them on here where it was their first month trying ... it just isn't fair.
@Jenn23: Congratulations on the green card! That must be a huge weight off of your shoulders.
@Jenn23: Yay on your DH greencard. That's great. I'm doing well. Honestly, the minute I stopped the progesterone when AF showed up I felt a ton better. I know it affects mood, but maybe if you deal with depression or other mood disorders it amplifies the situation? I don't know, but I'm not looking forward to having to use it again this month. Still haven't found a support group. There is a list of support groups on the resolve.org website. So I emailed the contact in my area, but she hasn't gotten back to me. I wonder if it's out of date. Has anyone looked at resolve.org?
I've been avoiding the boards due to all of the pregnancy announcements. Then my husband's cousin gave birth yesterday to a little girl, and one of my friend's back East gave birth to a little girl (and used the name we want to use if I have a little girl). Honestly, I'm happy for them all. But I'm jealous too.
@heathaah: You just put a scoop of powder into hot water and dissolve it. Can add honey if you want, but I always just drank it as is. They all taste different, but definitely have some taste that takes some getting used to. Of the two I took, one was kind of sweet, and the other was kind of like celery, but both were 'earthy'.
And on the opks: I usually get a fade in, but mine is only about a day max from the start of a line until it's positive. On the cheap ones, the darkest part of the line is the part to read - and sometimes it's only the far left side of the test line that's really dark for me. Since we've started with the RE, I got CBE digital opks that I use to confirm if I think it's positive.
@Jenn23: Hooray for good news on hubby's green card! Bout time y'all caught a break! :)
@MrsMaine: Sorry no O this month :( Are you going to keep charting?
@sweetkate: That is so exciting!!!!
@sacbride10: haha about your DH! That is really exciting to start the injectables though! And yeah, early cycle day US aren't very pretty!
@Jenn23: That is awesome! CONGRATS!!!!!
@heathaah: I would fade in too. Like MAYBE a positive, but not, then it would get darker. the fade in is nice, but also would make me worry we missed it!
mrswhit3: I think I am about 4 wks now... Not really sure though, but right around there! The dr should be able to figure it out and let me know when we go in!
@MerryC: Ahh ignorance was totally bliss before charting. But I suppose I do feel better knowing I didn't O, so I will continue to chart. Honestly have no idea how you ladies do it, I'm only on barely month 2 of charting and I'm already depressed over it! Ugh!
@Jenn23: Yaaay, that's great, congratulations to you both! Definitely cause to celebrate : )
@sweetkate: That's great, fingers crossed only the two of them grow and you can do your IUI soon!
I've been trying to catch up through the other thread but saw that @waitingbee and @merry are doing acupuncture now? Is that right? How are you finding it?
I've been doing acupuncture since February and herbs for three weeks and seem to be noticing a bit of a change with the herbs.... I had some egg white cm for the first time ever and, well, I don't know if it's in my head or not and it sounds crazy but the ovary/womb area has felt warmer... ha ha I know I sound like a total nut case but before I almost knew my ovaries weren't working properly as they used to feel disconected from the rest of me. I told my acupuncture guy and he said that in Chinese medicine that makes perfect sense and there is actually a thing called 'cold womb syndrome'. So at the risk of sounding absolutely barking mad, maybe they are having some kind of effect.
@travelgirl1: I'm not doing acu/herbs anymore. I did it months 9-12, but am on 18 now. It really made a difference in straightening out my cycles, and I'm really glad you're feeling positive effects from it! You aren't crazy! It's fantastic for mind-body wellness. If we weren't spending so much on other treatments, I would totally do it for relaxation and general wellness. I think mswhit, waitingbee, and bellamargot are all starting nowish?
@sweetkate: Yay those are great numbers. Fingers crossed for good news tomorrow
@1littlep:Good luck
@bellamargot:First acupuncture down and it was great. My acupuncturist (?) seemed really knowledgeable. She talked about strenghthening my ovulation and increasing my progesterone. She also is going to work on my stress and anxiety. She explained how the uterus and heart share the same blood lines, so she will work on healing both. I feel confident that this will help. There were 2 women there who were pregnant so I'm hoping that's a good omen. Mostly didn't hurt but I did have 2 tender spots but it passed quickly.
@sacbride10: Try laying on the floor when he gives you the shot. My DH had to give me B complex shots. I used to have to lay on the floor because when I stood in front of him we laughed so hard. If you are laying on the floor it helps to keep you both still . Good luck
@heathaah:I have heard they do not grow darker that anything but a positive is equally negative. I don't know if I believe that. I usually start testing around CD10 because thats when my monitor started asking for strips. Good luck. P.S I think my OPKs got progressively darker but I could be smoking crack.
@MrsMaine:Sorry girl
@Jenn23:Congrats to you and DH
@travelgirl1: Hope the womb stays hot!
I found my acupunturist online
@sweetkate: Yay those are great numbers. Fingers crossed for good news tomorrow

I found my acupunturist online
@heathaah: I ALWAYS have a test line that's visible, but right before ovulation, it does get a little darker leading up to O. BUT...that only happens if you have the same amount of "reserve" pee, each day if that makes sense.
@sacbride10: I'm so sorry. I'm dealing with the same thing -- three of my good friends just announced the pregnancies this week. Happy, but so.freaking.jealous.
@MerryC: Yep, I'm 3dpiui here.
@Jenn23: SO exciting! So I'm curious...how long was the green card process for you guys, in total? What went into it?
I'm basically just over-analyzing every symptom at the moment. The problem is that I when I got pregnant in May with the chemical pg, I had LOTS of "minor" symptoms -- especialy creamy cm. I can't remember exactly what dpo that kicked in, but I'm hoping to get something soon. Right now, I've got nothin!
BFN. Had my meltdown last night and DH and I are now just looking forward to moving on with IVF. Hopefully we can meet with my doctor soon to get a game plan.
@Rosie Girl: ok, can I say I'm excited you'll be due around when I'm getting married!!! SO EXCITING!!!!!!
@MerryC: (((((HUGS))))) I'm soooo sorry! :( Here's hoping you can start IVF SOON and join Rosie in getting a BFP!!!!!
EEEE!!!! 6 days until I'm 8 months out!!! Which means, in six days I can apply to be a BEE!!!!
If I do manage to make the cut, I'm thinking of doing a post about infertility, what do you ladies think? opinions???
@mrswhit3:fingers crossed for you
@MerryC: So sorry. I hope IVF brings you your baby.
@Zinzerena: Good luck with the wedding planning. It will fly by. Infertility has been part of your journey so I think you should talk about it if you feel comfortable. Good luck with you app to be a bee.
@MerryC: I'm so sorry.
@Zinzerena: I think that would be great! Since it seems like once a couple gets married (or even engaged!) all the baby questions start. Good luck!!!
So I was looking through my insurance the other day and I found out that acupuncture is covered! Well, for 20 visits per calendar year. But still. If this IUI doesn't work I may look into it.
Oh, and I started a blog. Actually, I started it last weekend but I wanted to get some posts up. Of course, this week has been extremely busy so I haven't been able to update as much as I would like but I'm hoping to get some posts done this weekend.
@waitingbee: Thanks! :) I know June sure flew by fast! I've got mixed feelings about the rest of July, though, 'cause school starts in August and BOTH my kids will be going to school :(
I was also thinking it'd be a good way to bring some light to the problem soooo many of us have. It's like it's a taboo subject or something!
I don't mind talking about it. It's a part of life and it's been the subject of a few arguments along the way.
@sweetkate: that's so true!!! AND I can also point them to the AWESOME group that is here! I don't think I'd vanish even after we got pregnant. It's too good a group to talk with, not to mention, so many new people find their way here ALL the time!!!!
@MerryC: I'm so sorry. :( Looks like you and I will be starting IVF around the same time. We plan to meet with the dr. in the next week or two. I just need to call and make an appt. We'll help each other through the process! :)
@sweetkate: That's great that accupuncture is covered!!
@mrswhit3: It was an insane process. We started the application last year after our wedding. Most of the effort/work was done over the last 9 months. We had to provide one billion documents, personal statements from friends and family (plus our own-his was so sweet!) so many photos and some other ridiculous things. I'm just glad our lawyer was with us yesterday because I was super nervous. Luckily, everything went well for us! If they suspect something is wrong, they seperate you into different rooms and interrogate you. Yikes! I asked our lawyer yesteray afterwards about how many green card marriages are "fake" and she said roughly 25% or more. So these immigration officials have to deal with this kind of thing all the time. What a job they have!
@Zinzerena: Good luck with your Bee application!!! If you want to talk about the infertility, I say go for it!!
@travelgirl1: That's great you are seeing some positive changes with the herbs. Yay!!
@Jenn23: That's great!!! SOOOO glad the interview and everything went smoothly!!!!
and thanks! I don't see where NOT talking about it would be a big deal (everyone in our circle of friends and families know I want another and I HIGHLY doubt any of them read my blog). Only a couple know I've been having problems and I'm sure the others would be sympathetic towards us if they knew we WERE having problems. (We just kept the miscarriage secret from the majority and those few who do know are sympathetic towards us...)
Besides, it might help others realize that not everyone gets pregnant straight off the bat, that we DO have the irrational annoyance of seeing/hearing about all the pregnancies in our lives/online and IT'S OKAY!, and that it isn't something to be ashamed of. (does that make sense???)
Thanks all. Much appreciated. Technically I'm supposed to retest on Sunday and keep with the progesterone until then, but I'm done with it all. I chucked my bbt thermometer in the back of my nightstand drawer last night :) It'll be nice to take a break from the temps, and meds, and poas all the time.
@Jenn23: I got an appointment scheduled for next Monday, the 18th. We're really hoping the doctor will be on board with our wishes to pursue IVF at this point. But we're assuming/hoping there will be more tests prior to starting treatment, to make sure there are no other red flags. I think "they" say that if IUI is going to work, it usually works in the first 3 tries, so I think it's reasonable to move on. Our clinic pg rates with IVF are like 80% with women under 30, so I'm so so so hoping that us still being young finally makes us come out on the good side of the odds.
I just got back from my ultrasound and none of my follies grew! =( My lining was thicker so she said not to worry, that my hormones are still working. I had to get my E2 levels checked again so we can adjust the dosage if needed. I go back on Sunday for another check. I feel like a broken record but I just wish my body would do what its supposed to for once!
