A few months back, we all got together to help support @Yellow.Clover: in her goals for the Washington Walk for Hope. I’m hoping you will gather together and help me as well. September is special for me for two reasons: September is PCOS awareness month, and September 29th is the RESOLVE Irvine Walk For Hope here in Southern California. As you may have read, I have been and am dealing with PCOS. It’s something that affects around 1 in every 8-10 women and it’s the LEADING cause of infertility.
The walk of course is something that pretty much everyone who knows me understand why it’s near and dear to me. Anton and I have been dealing with infertility and loss for the past 3+ years. I WILL NOT FIGHT THIS SILENTLY! I will stand up, break the silence, spread awareness, raise hope and help for other ladies (and gentlemen!) that are new to the heartache. I’m asking all of my friends to help me do so. If you are able to, please make a donation whether it’s in my name, my team’s name, or just directly to RESOLVE. They are actively fighting to change laws to help people like me to be able to afford treatments, or just simply to offer support, help, advice, and encouragement! Did you know that many insurance companies will cover abortions elective or medically necessary and yet will NOT cover infertility? This one of the many things that RESOLVE is working to change.
This is something near and dear to my heart. I know there are some on this board that will recognize my name despite how quiet I’ve been on the boards lately, but for those of you that don’t, my husband and I have been trying for over 3 years now. I had 17 months of nothing, no cycle, no ovulation, no positive tests. During that time, I found out I had PCOS and Hashimotos and started working hard to get both of those under control. In November of 2011, I got my first positive test. It ended in miscarriage. I was pregnant again in May, June, July, November and January. I lost them all. During that time I did lots of testing and found out that I had a large septum (major cause of my miscarriages), progesterone deficiency and now most recently thin lining.
In my journey, I’ve lost 112 pounds, gotten my Hashimotos and PCOS under control, had 2 surgeries to remove the septum, and am still remaining hopeful that I’ll see the rainbow at the end of this storm.
Please help me in supporting RESOLVE and breaking the silence!
