I am searching for the perfect venue for my big day. My fiance and I are quite low key and would love to have an informal bbq meal, instead of the traditional multicourse sit-down set menu.
Ideally, we would love to get married outside near a lake or body of water, maybe even on a dock? And then have the reception at the same location of the ceremony.
We are thinking that we will have roughly 100 guests attending.
Can anyone think of a venue that has grills/offers an informal bbq option? Or a location near the water that allows outside caterers?
I was told to check with the Irwin Inn in Lakefield (near Peterborough) and am waiting for their response.
Thanks so much!
P.S. We live in the Greater Toronto Area, but would be willing to travel a few hours for the wedding. I was thinking possibly up North in cottage country?

Hi there, we too are having an outdoor wedding with upscale bbq. We will have the ceremony outside and dinner and reception in a tent. We will be having Smoked pulled pork, roast beef, smoked turkey, smoked salmon mhmmmmm! We are getting married at families property in Haliburton. It is called Wintergreen Maple Barn, they have an old timber mill barn built in 1848. Google them, and I can also provide you with their details if you like.

I once attended a wedding at Kashaga Lodge in Haliburton – Right on the water and the bride & groom had a bbq as well. It was a great time!

Not sure if you found a place yet, but if not there is a place called The Briars on lake simcoe. we looked into it but found it just out of our budget but it’s on a lake and you pretty much book the whole thing to yourself, they have plenty accommodations as well. it’s like a mini resort.
