So I’m asking this for FI. When I first met him he had a problem with getting what seemed to be shavers rash/irritation on his neck and ingrowns. I put him onto shaving down rather than up and he now also uses a daily facial polish (light exfoliant) on his face/neck and on days he shaves also has a Bodyshop Maca Root facial scrub that he uses prior to shaving. It is 90% better than it used to be but he still inevitably always gets a few ingrowns though that cause red lumps etc. on his neck. This bothers him and he would like to have a smooth, blemish free neck if he could. Any tips on what has worked for other people’s SOs?

@Lollybags: my FH has the same problem, I’d love to know what other people have to suggest!

@Lollybags: My DH suffers from this, I always feel so bad for him because his work shirts irritate it even more because of the collar.
I know he always tries to use brand new razors, extra-sensitive shaving cream, the exfoliant/warming gel before hand, and the cooling gel afterwards. We also bought him a fog-free mirror to shave in the shower. The steam helps to open the pores.
It is inevitable that he get a few here and there.

When you find a cure let me know. My SO is plagued by this as well. He only trims really close now because his neck breaks out in ingrown hairs. Luckily I like how he looks with a little stubble, but he’d like to get a close shave occasionally.

Moisturizing after shaving will help.

My ex used a product called Tend Skin and it made a night and day difference. I don’t know if they still make it.

@HopefulForLittleOne: Great, thanks! I think I’ve managed to find a supplier in Australia too so hopefully he won’t have to wait too long for it to arrive!
