This is my first post on here, since my boyfriend and I have officially been discussing engagement ring ideas!
My mother is giving us a beautiful 1 ct rount cut diamond from her original e-ring to use. But now I have no idea what to do with it… Does anyone have any suggestions on a setting that would maximize the stone and show it’s true potential? I want something simple but that also will make the stone appear bigger since I am a size 8 finger.
Any advice is appreciated – thank you in advance!!

A halo could help the stone look bigger, but I think round solitare rings are amazing! You could always set it in a solitaire setting until you find what you really want.

@PeaceLoveLaughter: I TOTALLY agree with getting a halo!!

i love rounds in square halos or a round halo, it would definitely look beautiful!

I would suggest going to a jewelry store and trying on all kinds of styles. Most are displayed with 1 ct cz. Any setting you like will look good with 1 ct but it depends on what you like. I prefer a solitaire, but you may like a halo. I have found what looks best on my hand isn’t always what I thought would look best.

There are some tacori settings with unique halos that really maximize round stones, if you want to look into them. Here is one I like

I would agree with going to a jewelry store to view other round cut diamonds and how they have been set. Choosing an e ring is much like choosing a wedding dress, very dependent upon your personal style and taste. I personally love a solitare setting and that’s how I chose to have my e ring diamond set. I think halos and some multi stone settings look too busy but that’s my personal preference. I mean, do diamonds ever really look bad? 🙂

@MrsNerdy: That setting is beautiful! Thakn you for sharing.
@lisapisa1: I agree about the halos – I love the classic look of the solitaire, and the fact that any band could go with it, but I’m just worried that this gorgeous stone won’t look good all alone on my huge fingers haha. Plus, I don’t know ANYTHING about the different type of halos out there.

I was also thinking that maybe getting a setting with two smaller side stones might help dress up my center stone – making it a 3stone ring.

I think a square halo or a double round halo would really show off the stone and make it appear bigger. Plus I love the vintage touch of the halo.

Sorry if this photo comes out huge. I found this setting online and I like this halo because it kind of sits underneath the center stone, so it compliments it and is more subtle. Thoughts?

@km310: That’s beautiful 🙂 the halo will make the stone look bigger and the plain shank will make the center pop.
