Help Hive. I am in the mist of having my invitations designed (gocco-less bee here) and we've hit a bit of a snag. Currently the invites are square, but the cost of an inner and outer envelope for this square invite is leaving me breathless ($200!!).

So should I forego out inner envelope and do a square. Or do a 5 x 7 invite with both envelopes at a much more reasonable price. By the way, I kinda love the inner/outer thing- so regal, but maybe kind of a waste? What do you think?

We did inner and outer.  We initially were just going with a pocketfold and an outer, but I'm glad we went with both.  Some of the outer envelopes got a little crunched or scuffed up in the mail, but the inner ones and the pocketfolds stayed very nice.

How many envelopes/invites are you talking about?  That does seem pretty high.  And is it including the printing?  There are lots of websites where you can get very nice square envelopes for not that much.  You just want to look for someplace like Crane's that sells them by the 100, rather than buying them in packets of 10 or something.

We only need about 50 envelopes. And the price is just for the envelopes- no printing! Anyone know of where you can inner and outter envelopes for a 7x7 invite? Thanks!

I'm not sure if you thought about this, but you will probably have to pay extra for postage on square, which if you are worried about the invite budget, may be a factor to consider.

Postage is .59 cents to start on a square piece, and as for inner/outer envelopes, regardless of what size you use, be green, save some paper and some cash and skip the inner envelopes. Inner envelopes are nice, yes, but unfortunately a big waste.

Definitely just outer. Sure, it's a little more postage, but the cost difference doesn't sound like it would that much. Save paper, save money, save your sanity! No need for this unnecessary formailty.

Thanks Ladies. Just so you know, we are doing a smaller square (6x6) and foregoing the inner envelope! Plus, we found 100% recycled envelopes and are using tree free paper for the invites!!
