@Imean:  how will YOU feel? don’t worry about the other guests! but if you will feel self concious and will be pulling/tugging at your suit you’re not going to be able to kick back and enjoy your honeymoon. so do what will make you feel happy and confident – it would be a bummer to feel self conscious on your honeymoon, so pick what makes you feel good 🙂

I think you should totally wear a two piece! Who cares what other people think?!?!?!?! as long as you’ll be comfortable enough, rock it!!! it’s your honeymoon and i’m sure you’ll look lovely!

@Imean:  I’m with you – I don’t wear bikinis anymore. I used to when I was a size 4/6, but not at my current size 10. Confidence is really important and I know I’d be walking around awkwardly and wondering what people think. If it is just you and your FI in your private space, why not? But don’t make yourself feel uncomfortable. Personally I know I don’t look as good in a bikini as I used to, so I highly doubt it would please my FI to see, lol. Especially will all the girls with bangin’ bodies on the beach.

I’m sure everyone will say wear what you want – and of course you can! But if you will feel badly or uncomfortable, it’s not worth it in my books.

I think you should go for it. If I’m being perfectly frank here, I have seen all sorts of people who really don’t belong in a bikini wearing them. I’m not saying you don’t belong in a bikini, but you know what I mean. You see all shapes and sizes at the pool. Hell, I don’t really think I belong in a bikini, but I’ve done it too. I say screw everyone… wear what makes your FI happy.

Do it.  I am a little overweight and I still wear a bikini.  Once you get there just look across the pool/beach and I am sure you will see someone else in a bikini that makes you feel better about yourself.

Wear one! No one cares, seriously. I cannot remember how anyone looked or what anyone was wearing on our cruise or any time I’ve ever gone to the beach.

@Imean:  I am plus sized, and I actually think I look better in a well-fitting, highly supportive two-piece bathing suit that fits like a good-coverge, supportive bra and french-cut briefs than I do in a tankini or even some unsupportive, one-piece bathing suits.

Of course, the most slimming look for me — and the one that I wear around those who know me — is a one-piece Miracle suit, because those suits have such amazing structure in them.

However, I purchased three, beautiful, two-piece bathing suits from Figleaves.com in the UK for my Caribbean honeymoon, and I love them.  I encourage you to check out their selection of pluss-sized swimwear pieces (tops and bottoms) to see if you find anything that you think will give you the shape, coverage, and support that you’re seeking.

Rock it! I wore my very first bikini / 2 piece on my honeymoon, too! I’m a size 12/14 and wasn’t entirely comfortable at first. I’m a pear shape and I wasn’t sure it would be flattering, but then I found a great suit on sale at JCPenney. Go for it! Look for something that makes you feel great.

Go for it, who cares what others think, seriously you are not going to ever see these people again in life.

I’d at least give it a try! Start out wearing it in your room, then try rocking it at the beach. Bring a cute cover-up so you can put it on over your bikini if you start feeling uncomfortable. But you never know how you’ll feel until you try it! I’m a plus size girl and was really apprehensive when my husband wanted to visit the nude beach at our resort on our honeymoon. But once we were there, I was like – hey, this isn’t so bad!

@Imean:

@Imean:  What a confidence booster that your FI is specifically asking to see your sexy bod in a bikini!!

We are always our own worst critics.  Your FI sees you in a way that you don’t because you’re likely being too hard on yourself.  Don’t compare yourself to other guests or other women, just do what makes you feel comfortable, even if that means only rocking that bikini in your hotel room.

That being said, I would encourage you to at least try wearing it out to the beach or pool, just once.  If you hate it, you don’t have to do it again, but like you said, you’ll never see these people again.  It’s a great time and place to push your comfort zone just a bit.

I absolutely understand your insecurities, we all have them no matter what we look like.  I recently lost 20 pounds and am feeling much better about myself, but still feel semi-uncomfortable in a bikini.  I own a few bikinis and a few one-pieces, and I just alternate them based on how confident I’m feeling on a given day.

Confidence is SO sexy.  Last summer and 20 pounds heavier and wrapped up in a beach towel, I would look at other women on the beach who were clearly larger than I was, and think “WOW she looks amazing in that bikini!!  How come I can’t do that?”  The answer was confidence.  Those women just rocked it, and I certainly wasn’t noticing any “imperfections” they might have had.  All I saw was that they looked great and happy and super sexy!

I know it’s hard, believe me, I have no room to talk about body confidence, but I’d put money on the fact that you’d look great in a flattering two piece.  Listen to your FI when he tells you that you look great!

@LilySarah:  Awesome response – I have always worn one piece suits as far as I can remember but last summer Fi asked if I would ever wear a bikini, saying he wanted to see me in one because he “knew I could rock it”.  I was apprehensive at first but bought one and wore it in the backyard at first only, then moved it to the beach near us.  I didn’t feel that self concious and FI loved it saying how sexy I looked.  He has always told me I lok great and like PP have said if he’s requesting it you know he’ll love you in it.
