i LOVE outdoor weddings. i’m not sure how hot SD gets in july, but that could be something to consider.

are you a worrier? it might be better for your sanity to have the wedding inside if you’re the type of person who will drive yourself crazy worrying about the weather (as i am currently doing).

also, are you an ‘outside person’? not everyone loves being outside in nature (bugs, heat, humidity, etc).

I’m one of the insane worriers that @kitzy: is referring to. Outdoor ceremonies are beautiful, but do you have a back up plan in case it rains?? If not, I’d go with the chapel.

I’m totally an outdoor person, but I don’t love outdoor weddings. Will it be hot or buggy?  If so, I’d totally go for the chapel if it is climate controlled.  If there is no ac in the chapel, your guests may actually be more comfy out side.

Wow! What a view! Since the whole weekend is at this amazing park, there will likely be lots of outdoor time. It seems like a lovely contrast to go inside a bit – the chapel is charmingly rustic and romantic, too, so it’s a smooth transition from in and outside. That’s why I voted for the chapel. (though the point about climate control is a good one to consider). Good luck!

The chapel looks a little dark, is there alternative lighting for photography?

I hate bugs when it comes to the outdoors which is why i made sure when we were looking for a location that we were on the water (hooray for breezes that come in off the lake to blow the pest away!)

If you don’t have a back up for the outdoor option I would go with the chapel.

That’s a super cute little chapel. You could run with an amazing rustic theme with that location.

But then you can always find some beautiful areas outside and then you get amazing pics and great lighting.

If you do it outside then you’ll have to rent chairs and all of the decor whereas some of that would be provided with the chapel.

I agree with what others have said about it being hot inside though if there’s no AC, yet outside the weather could still be a huge factor.

    It’s a conundrum.

    I voted inside.

Then I found this pick of someone who got married at Sylvan Lake in Custer State Par. Very nice!

I think it would be beautiful to be married in a state park.  There would be no question in my mind, as long as you have a rain plan.

The chapel is adorable, but I feel like you can never beat an outdoor wedding.
