Instead of a bridesmaid bouquet....

Alright girls, I'm on a tight budget and I just realized how much bridesmaid bouquets cost. Since I have 6 I'm really not able to economically afford them carrying a nice bouquet (perhaps a calla lilly) But I'm thinking something different right now that I would like some advice on.

Instead of bouquets, how about the girls holding paper fans? Since I want them to still look feminine, I also would like them to have a cluster of pearls adorning their wrists and topped off with a pretty sheer bow. The bow would be ivory instead of black, by the way. Also, the bracelet would be a part of their bridesmaid gift! (Southern girls love pearls---fake and real alike!)

Tell  me what y'all think! Thanks!

I think it's a nice alternative, and you might even be able to dress up the fans with ribbons or a flower or two depending on your budget.

I am doing the single calla lillie thing. But I also liked the thought of the paper fans.

Those are really good ideas! The pearls are a classic!

Have you thought about DIYing the boquets? I'm going through www.growersbox.com. All you need are flowers, floral tape, ribbon, and pins. You could probably do something pretty cheap! = D There are all sorts of tutorials.

I think that's super cute! I also love the idea of a single flower - I've seen that in a few weddings, and it looks VERY good!

Have you considered baby's breath bouquets?

Very cute! At first I wasn't sure, but the picture is def. cute. Maybe yall could have a fun night & make the paper fans?! Each bridesmaid could make their invididual fan, BUT make them somewhat the same so they fit into your theme & don't look out of place.

I think it depends on the location of the wedding. Those fans work in the picture because it's outdoors. I don't know if I'd go with paper fans indoors.

I love the baby's breath bouquet. You could also do very small nosegays for the BMs.

The baby's breath is a great idea!  You can even have some (or all) dyed if you wanted.  If its an outdoor wedding you can do parasol's too...Usually under $10 per parasol....

We're on a tight budget as well and decided to do an alternative to bridesmaids bouquets as well. I ended choosing clutches with a silk flower corsage on the front. I'm working on them now and it's turning out pretty well.

I love the fan idea, I think that you could find some great options and you could decorate them. I do agree with one the pp, I think the fans are a great idea so long as they will fit with the location of the wedding.

I think that is a really cool idea!  Flowers just get thrown out anyway, but you could personalize their fans and make them a keepsake!

I think that this is gonna be a new trend. lol. I already got my fans for the bridesmaids, it is asian fans, I put dangling crystals on it to dress it up, but my theme for the wedding is asian, so it is a double happiness (used for weddings) paper fans that also double as favors.  =)   check out asianideas.com for great fans.

I love the baby's breath bouquet. I carried one in a wedding about 3 years ago and it's sitting up on top of my tall dresser. It dried beautiful. The bride made them all herself, I think she said she paid about $3.00 each. Can't beat that price!

I'm with Lees... at first I was like huh, fans?  But then I changed my mind after seeing the pic, very cute!  If you can't afford or don't want bridesmaid bouquets I think it's perfectly fine to just give them a fun accessory.

I have seen lots of bridesmaids carry single cala lillies, very beautiful and classic IMO. BUT I think the other options the bees have presented fans and parisols are cute too. Although Parisols MIGHT be more expensive than single cala lillies, not sure.

Love it.  And I think they are perfect for a Summer wedding even if you are indoors.  It's very Southern Belle. Love it!!

I love it!  We are doing the parasols with 2-3 single flowers tied together for my BM's.
