I was just gonna suggest wedsafe.com also. They're really reasonable. Just pick the coverage that seems realistic. And check with the venue if they have any kind of insurance before you cover things they've already got covered.
$500,000 seems really high! I would look into an outside insurance vendor like wedsafe. Hope it works out!
We just had to do this for our venue which required $1,000,000 of coverage. We just upped our homeowner's insurance policy a few months before the wedding...and it cost us....$28!!! Really simple...WedSafe is much more expensive, so definately give the insurance company a call before making any decisions.
I second the wedsafe suggestion! We had to get a $1 mill policy, and it was really simple and affordable! (We were unable to get the coverage through our homeowner's policy.)
NOt sure which carrier your parents are with, but my company (State Farm) offers Special Event enforsement that you can add to your Homeowners policy that covers you for up to $1mil for that day. It'll cost about $50 at most, hopefully they can get something like that cuz if you go through wedsafe.com or another similar site it'll cost a few hundred dollars
We have to have a $1 million policy, but thankfully, the location is obtaining the coverage on our behalf.

Has anyone else had to deal with finding insurance coverage for your reception venue? The place my fiance and I are interested in requires "Bodily Injury and Property Damage Liability," which is typically covered by homeowner's or renter's insurance, I'm told. What are my options if my parents' insurance (they're hosting the wedding) won't cover all of it? The venue requires a minimum of $500,000 per claimant but the insurance company will only cover up to $300,000, and won't give us a definite quote on how much extra it would cost to buy a separate policy...
Sorry this is kinda long. I don't even know what half the stuff I wrote above means, much less where to start, besides calling around to different insurance companies and the venue tomorrow, to see if they have any suggestions. Thanks in advance if anyone has any ideas or tips for me!
