Here's an interesting article from the ireport section of the CNN website.

Have you made any changes to your wedding due to the economy, or do you have your set budget and you're sticking to it?

We have a sum of money that my mom gave us, and I don't forsee us going above and beyond that. I am having a really really small ceremony in Las Vegas and not hosting any events. My dress was on sale at J. Crew. We bought our wedding rings and my fiance needs an outfit. Otherwise, just travel expenses and the ceremony ($250 or so). I can't imagine that we'll have to spend more!

We've stayed (so far) under budget. We've gotten some great deals because of the economy we've actually gotten some great deals as venders are looking for work.

Oh that's a good point. Our travel expenses are pretty low because of the economy.

I can't say that the economy has impacted our budget or wedding decisions at all.  We'll still be pulling off what we want, no compromises.  In the end, I don't want to tell people looking at my wedding photos that "Oh we couldn't do flowers/food/cake etc because of the economy that year."  On the other hand, vendors have become more flexible about pricing.

    ooh, that's interesting.

I can't say either that the economy has had much of an impact on our wedding budget, for which I am grateful!  Both my parents and I are both still employed and we are both able to contribute as originally planned to the wedding.  I realized after I made my budget just how small it was in the grand scheme of things, but had the economy be doing better, I can't imagine we'd spend much more.

@ MightySapphire: I will definitely agree, though, that vendors have been pretty felxible...at least more than I imagined.  That probably contributed to us staying within our budget!

I think we're going to come in under budget.  I've learned so much from various brides that have gone before me, that I've been able to use a lot of cost-saving tips.  Plus, we've tried to incorporate friends with talent in virtually every aspect of the wedding, and that has really saved us so far.
