I read it yesterday.  I thought it was very interesting!

I also heard on the news yesterday that a study was released in Sweden, which stated that marriages were 40% more likely to work if:

a: you come from similar backgrounds

b: your wife is 5 years younger

c: your wife is 30% smarter.

I liked part of it and thought some parts of it were interesting, like Mrs. DG I liked the daddy part.

I think it suffers severly from what most articles on the brain suffer from.  It way way overstates what we know.  When we label parts of the brain as “sexual persuit” part we are so vastly oversimplifing what actually goes on in our brains and overstating how much we know about out brains.  We know that certain areas seem to be more active when doing certain tasks, we can say things like “this area of the brain seems responsible for a large part of X”.

For example the male glaze they are talking about – if I took the article seriously I’d have to conclude that my finace is imaginary.

I don’t think my finace is imaginary.  I’ve never seen him glaze over at a pair of tatas.  There are other men I know that are the same.  So to say “men can’t help it” when I have definite first hand expierence of men that can makes me sceptical of the article.

The article also doesn’t note that our brains change depending on what we use it for.  So hypothetically if girls were encouraged to be emphatic than boys it is possible that grown women’s brains would have a bigger more active empathy area than grown mens.  In reality, we just know so little.

I’m actually really looking forward to advances in brain neurology knowledge.  I just hope that the way they report on them in articles improves.

Oh I know ‘The Man Trance’ all too well because he does it to me and then when he does happen to comment on another woman’s chest, I’m like, “dude, I honestly didn’t even notice”.  Hilarious!  I enjoyed reading this.
