Interesting article. I'd say the recession has certainly made me increase my DIY load 
but I think it will be certainly worth it in the end. I've had to become more creative and its really worked in my favor so far.
one good thing is that wedding venues and vendors are also hit by the recession and, thus, we benefit from having stronger negotiation power ;)

@Cheeks11: I have increased mine also and I love it. It is so personal and tthe details will mean more to me in twenty years than if I had just bought them.
@TingTing: True also, I have found that alot of vendors are much more willing to negotiate than they have been in the past.

Luckily no lack of brides on Weddingbee :) Most of us may have had to adjust our budgets because of the recession but at least we're still able to have a wedding.
