- Wedding: October 2015
I am getting married in October 2015. I am Jewish and my fiance is Christian (Catholic technically). We both are non-practicing but still are rooted in the culture. My parents recently joined a synagogue and want their Rabbi to perform our ceremy. They called yesterday and found out the Assistant Rabbi is available and made an appointment. Last night, my mom told me that the Rabbi hasn’t officially agreed to do it, and the appointment is for him to give the final approval. This is a reform congregration so I was under the understanding that they perform interfaith marriages.
I am very nervous. Has anyone been through this before? If they say no, I’m afraid my parents will see me as a failure. I’ve never felt too welcomed by the Jewish community, and this would be another blow. If they say no, where can I go to find an officiant? I see so many online, but I don’t know if they are legal. I am located in the Chicago area.
